A Belgian-Style American India Pale Ale. When you've got to jam three countries into the name of the style of your beer, you might want to re-think your beer. Never-the-less...

A: Clear golden yellow in color. Forms a modest creamy white head. Decent retention. Little lacing.

S: Decent aroma. Bread, apple butter, unripe citrus. Some lighter caramel malts. Some faint yeasty phenols.

T: Taste is similar to the aroma - decent, but with little actual character to set this beer apart. Pale malts, biscuit, and a light bit of caramel malt. There is a slightly toasty quality. Very light yeast character. Orange pith. Mildly earthy on the back end.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Moderate carbonation. Mild bitterness, though there is a mild astringent dryness on the back end.

O: It is apparent this beer was brewed to have the greatest mass appeal possible. Of course, the result is an relatively characterless beer that only hints at being either Belgian or an IPA.

12 ounce bottle -> Wicked Weed snifter

A - cloudy medium gold with a two finger white head and tons of lacing.

S - fresh citrus aroma, bread, and grass

T - citrus flavors (orange peel, grapefruit, lemon) with a dry yeasty finish.

M - medium thick, good carbonation, not much of an aftertaste

O - pretty good for the style. Fairly tasty.

Poured chilled in standard ale glass

A: medium amber color; thin but silky head; very active carbonation; good lacing
S: very sweet and appealing aroma; bubblegum and malt
T: candy sweet at the start, followed by a wave of Belgian-strain yeast, then completed with bittering hops; what an interesting, complex chain of flavors; there's something in the effect that would bother me if I had this a lot
M: mealy and thick, appropriate f or this style

This beer fits squarely in no particular style, and so makes a distinctive impression on the palette. I can see this becoming a brew to imitate--I hope it lives long. Enjoy!

A beautiful beer from one of the best new breweries I've seen. These guys get it, and their beer shows an attention to detail that is rivaled only by a very few other breweries. This beer is unique. It pours a dark golden color with a finger or so of head. The aroma is clean. That's the best way I can describe it. It is a very clean, crisp smell, and this is matched by the flavor. This is my favorite IPA right now, and I recommend it to anyone who will listen!

Appearance- Served in oversized wine glass. Color is orange with a off-white head. Medium retention.

Smell- Citrus notes, with grapefruit standing out, mixed with a slight belgian yeast aroma. Malty notes as well.

Taste- Citrus with yeast and malt undertones. Alcohol is not as well hidden as it could be.

Mouthfeel- Light and a bit oily. Light carbonation.

Overall- A lighter hop profile for the style, but works nicely. Well-balanced hop, yeast, and malt character. Definitely left an impression and I will be buying this beer again in the future.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass. No obvious freshness date. Received awhile back from goo friend Erinn in an informal trade of locals.

A: Nearly clear orange-amber with 2-finger off-white foamy head with decent retention and scrappy lacing left behind.

S: A lot of light crystal malt in the nose, 20-40L, with a surprising malty nose for a Belgian IPA. The yeast esters are moderate at best with the ripe fruit tang of a Belgian strain. Hoppiness brings mango and lemon-grapefruit character with some earthy notes as well.

T: The flavor is a bit muted overall but pleasant enough with earthy, herbal, lemon hop notes which combine with the light and medium crystal malts to leave a bland beer overall. As a Belgian Pale ale, this might be okay with a bit more caramel characer, but as a Belgian IPA, this one doesn't measure up.

M: Easy enough to drink and the body is pretty light with well-hidden alcohol.

O: One Night in Brussels is not a very memorable beer. Raging Bitch decimates this brew. It is easy drinking, but really drinks more like a hoppy Belgian Pale Ale than a BelgianI IPA.
