Pours a hazy, burnt orange, almost reminiscent of tangerine flesh. Aroma has a lot of stone fruit, most evident is peach. Some lemon acidity and citrus zest. Slight phenolic qualities appear as it warms, but nothing disconcerting. Quite a nice nose, really. Flavor has a pleasant, unabrasive tartness, most akin to berliner. Influence of a wheat ale, some breadiness, orange. Mouthfeel is a little lacking. Medium carbonation. I came in not expecting much at all, but this was pleasant.

Wheat. More tart than sour. Little bit of grapes.

Pours an amber color with little head but good clarity. The aroma is funky and sour, with wild yeasts and wine barrel characteristics.
Complex flavor of barrel and wine playing with the soured beer. Nice lactic thing going on. Fruity, sour, lightly malty but not sweet. Acetic even. Balanced and delicate.
Medium bodied well carbonated. Tartness and tannins linger on. This is a very good American Wild Ale as far as I am concerned.

Poured into a tulip: murky orange with some gold highlights. Thin ring of white head.
Smells oaky & sour. A little sour cherry, lemon zest, a touch of banana, a touch of Limburger-like funk, some band-aid. Honestly, you could tell me this was a gueuze & I'd believe you, based on the smell.
Acidic tang like oranges that have just started to go bad, some acetone, a little sharp but buttery at the same time, like chardonnay. Booze kicks in, along with an interesting blueberry note.
Sour mouthfeel but not puckering or crazy, with a slightly oily feel that goes along with the buttery flavor.
This is not a great sour beer, but it feels like a real sour beer. Speaking as someone who's wanted to see a legit, committed attempt at cold-side souring by a Pittsburgh brewer, this is the real deal. Not a stellar example of a wild ale, but it's not bad, & more importantly, I give Roundabout serious credit for doing it right.

Naturally, I was able to wait about two hours until I broke into this. 1.5 hours were spent on other beer excursions and the last half was spent chilling the beer.
The beer looks darker than I would have thought. Almost a brownish orange. (I thought the description said bright?) Nose is a lot of wild yeast kind of funky character. Flavor carries some mild funk and mild sour character with fruit tones clearly showing and a sweetness that is somewhat dominant and doesn't fade. A nice brew and a pleasant drinker. I think I will leave my other bottle for at least another year, maybe. (Though I am reading that Steve says to drink it now and don't age over 6 months.) It's decent, but from what I am getting off it now, I'd like to see how it develops after resting for some time.
