Poured a deep brown hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell and taste featured a light burnt grain and a touch of earthy sweetness.

The mouthfeel was toward the thinner side of the style.

Overall a decent porter. Lacks a touch of depth however.

Had this brew in a pint glass served at Diggers Ales and Eats (next door to Crooked Ladder's tasting room). It was a shot in the dark, and something not on CLB's current tap list, so I went for it. The presentation of this coffee colored masterpiece was the first sign that I made the right choice; then it was the aroma, then the taste. Damn, this beer is fine: so much so, that my wife who didn't want a beer, tasted mine and grew anxious to order one, as if they might kick the keg by the time they got back to her.

Look: Cafe dark, hints of ruby, one finger head
Smell: less complex than the flavor, but roasted coffee, toffee, sweet chocolate, lychee fruit
Taste: Toasted nuts, French roast, chocolate covered berries, mature hops, sweet grass
Feel: medium weight, initial middle tongue zingers, smooth spread with finish effecting whole mouth
Overall: perfect for paring with food or just as a dessert

Please brew this one again. Don't know if it can be replicated, but it'd be worth a shot.
