Had this on tap at a Pectonica tap takeover event. Poured into a pint glass its gold yellow, hazy with nice white foam. The smell was a bit hop forward but not distint, and a bit grainy. Taste is.... odd, its sweet like caramel with a weird flavor from dank earthy hops. My first reaction was that it was spoiled or off, or wrong, but no, that's what was intended. The mouthfeel was cloying, sweetness and weird hops stick to the tongue. Not a great example of the APA style at all.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz bottle.
Appearance: Pours golden with a nice white head that slowly dissipates. Very Clear
Smell: Slight citrus hop smell. Largely earthy hop smells, with some light caramel malt smell.
Taste: Very citrusy. It's not too hop forward (fitting the style) however it is quite a bit overly sweet and the alcohol is somewhat too noticeable.
Mouthfeel: Light profile. Low carbonation. Slight oily
Overall: A fairly average APA. On the one hand, I'm happy they did not over hop like too many American brewers are doing to their pale ales, however the beer isn't too balanced and has a big alcohol flavor for the style.

A hint of Spotted Cow is what comes to mind at first taste. Not too bad.

I have no idea how old the bottle is, but this isn't a bad beer at all.
This definitely isn't a West Coast hop flavored beer whatsoever so stay away if that's what you're looking for. The malt seems to overpower the hops, but the earthy & slighty fruity hop flavor gives it a decent balance. There's one thing I thought of when I first took a drink of this beer: New Glarus.
Alphorn reminds me of a heavier, less flavorful version of Spotted Cow. It's decent, but not nearly as refreshing as a nice pale ale should be. If you're a fan of Spotted Cow or NG Staghorn, then I'd recommend giving it a shot. It's decent, but there's nothing that makes it stand out.

Not sure of the age of this single, but the bottle is lazered "15 094 16" on the neck.
Can't be more than 6 months old judging from the first review.
Pours a saturated sunset orange with a slight haze, and rapidly rising carbonation. Thin layer of foam with a broken halo of lacing around the edges, and a patchy broken skim in the center.
Aroma is a little sweet, caramel malt and yeast, a little overly sweet like caramel candy.
Taste is similarly sweet with an odd note of cooked vegetable or sweet corn. Sort of bland with a cloying sweetness and vague hop bitterness in the end. Flaccid feel. Not very good. If I see this on tap i'll taste it to compare, but won't buy a bottle again.

Appearance - Medium yellow. Hazy. Tall, foamy white head with good retention.
Smell - Light pale malt. Bready. A little light lemon.
Taste - Sweet pale malt. Bread and sugar. Moderate dose of citrusy hops. Lemon and orange peel.
Mouthfeel - Medium. Well carbonated.
Overall - Flavor isn't terrible, but this is a little too cloying for an APA.
