Purchased at the Monroe Beverage Mart in Monroe, WI where the beer is currently contract brewed at Minhas by Pecatonica Beer Company. One of the owners has a hop farm and uses their farm grown hops in this beer. They are working on opening a taproom in Warren, IL.
Really nice dark tawny brown color, with a head of tan foam that laces nicely, and a surface skim that remains unbroken. The color is so dark it's hard to see any light passing through, but there's some reddish highlights when backlit.
Aroma is fairly sweet, mainly molasses with a little bit of malty nuttiness.
Sweet sassy molassy! Taste is also heavy on the sweet molasses. Light toasted malt in the periphery, with a very vague hint of bitterness in the finish. Lingering molasses taste. Body is medium, the sweetness is a bit inhibiting for having more than one.
Not real sure what to make of this one, try it if you love molasses I guess. Will be interested to see what they do with the taproom down the road.

12 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new beer from a new brewery to me, contract brewed by Minhas in Monroe, Wisconsin, according to the label. Classified here as a Euro dark lager, not a style I am too familiar with. Going in unbiased.
Poured into a Houlihan's pint glass.
A - Pours a dark ruby chestnut colored body with lots of spritzy carbonation streaming topside. Three big fingers of creamy fluffy khaki head. Looks very nice.
S - Smell isn't so bad. Some dusty must, chocolate malt, amber malt, brown sugar, & caramel.
T - Taste is strongly of burnt brown sugar, caramel, and molasses. Very sweet. Hint of chocolate / amber malt on the finish, but the sweetness is overpowering.
M - Feel is smooth, with some semi-sweet stickiness lingering behind. Medium bodied with high carbonation. Slightly bloating.
Overall, too sweet for me to consider this an easy drinker, but still a solid flavorful beer. Glad to have tried it, but one will be enough for me.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.
Yet another random new Wisconsin brewery coming into the area. This offering is a dark lager brewed with Cascade, Centennial, and Hallertauer hops. Alright (spoken in a fake Australian accent). It pours a dark garnet-brown topped by a finger or so of ashen foam. The nose comprises walnuts, mild coffee, dark greens, and a kiss of toasted rye bread. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a distinct vein of strong, dark molasses that clashes with the milder notes surrounding it. The body is a light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a slightly watery feel. Overall, a decent dark lager, but that weird molasses-y bit hinders things flavor-wise, and the overly-high carbonation and a watery body don't help matters either. Beyond those issues, though, it's pretty good...

12 ounce bottle poured into a shaker pint. I've never heard of the brewery before, but distributor samples are one of the perks of working in this industry. Dark brownish-copper with a finger of frothy off-white head. Decent retention and moderate lacing.
Very malty aroma. Bready, molasses, and nutty. Slight earthy hops in the background.
The flavor is dominated by molasses and brown sugar. It's not quite cloyingly sweet, but almost. Alcohol is surprisingly noticeable for a 5.9% ABV beer. Sweetness is slightly less of a kick after the first couple of swallows; notes of nut and dark fruit begin to come out as well. There is somewhat of a bitter roasted flavor which actually balances this out a bit.
Medium-bodied with fairly high carbonation for the style. Fairly creamy but also a bit of a sticky, syrupy finish.
Overall this is a decent beer with potential but not without flaws. The carbonation is a bit over-the-top and the sweetness could be toned down. A bit better balancing would definitely make this one a winner.

Creamy tan head. Color is a dark caramel brown.
Flavor is very nice. A lot of chocolate and nutty flavors. Caramel and a hint of vanilla. Decent hop profile shows here. Very clean.
Mouthfeel: creamy and smooth. Medium bodied.
Overall, a very enjoyable beer that I'd easily drink more of.
