A: Pours a murky reddish brown with a short head that fades quickly to a splotchy lace.

S: Booze, pine, some oak and dark fruits up front. A bit of spiciness from the rye barrels comes through. A well-rounded and complex aroma.

T: Nice vanilla tones and a decent load of dark fruit up front, some oak and barrel character and the dark fruits of the nose. Perhaps a bit of spice as well and finishes with some heat from the booze. A subtle hoppy character to this one too.

M: Medium-full body with low carb and a definite alcohol heat. A sipper but deceptively smooth for the size.

O: Very well done here from Southern Prohibition. A nice barleywine base which is certainly complemented by the barrel-aging. I drank this one fresh, but I'd love to see this with some age.

Well-hidden abv, but the flavors are a bit muted.

Poured into a Barley Legal tulip glass.

A: A weak tea orange/brown color. An off white half finger head that flew the coop fairly soon. Light lacing.

S: Sweet, malts, dark fruit, vanilla. A wine-like atmosphere.

T: Smooth and sweet with Kentucky bourbon, scotch and malts all vying for attention. Rye and vanilla pop up as well with a sweet finish. Let it warm for maximum flavor.

M: Medium with medium carbonation.

O: Worth the hour and a half drive to Hattiesburg. Thanks for picking this up for me, Michael. Glad I got to try one if the 900 bottles. A really cool piece of packaging. Drinks more like an old ale, and I certainly don't mind that. Can't wait to try their next barrel aged in the series.
