Had this at the source in Austin in early June 2023. Was on the back end of the day after a morning of disc golf.
Poured golden, just like almost every beer I had from them. 1/3" white head. The aroma was almost all bittering hops, Simcoe pushes like 99% of the weight on this beer in and out of the trenches. Sometimes you get those Simcoes that have a more icy expression, sometimes its just that twangy type, this was the latter.
Taste was much of the same, a hit of twangy barley alongside the Simcoe, not enough Citra to compete with the overwhelming Simcoe. I like my beers bitter, but I don't know if this one will resonate with most. As they say, balanced, it was not. Is your love in vain? Has that heavy grapefruit like bitterness with like some Nashville twang to it.
Even the prickly carbonation couldn't keep this beer from feeling like a one trick poney, I think Comrade in wanna be San Francisco (Denver) has a similar named and tasting beer if IIRC. Good enough.

One of my favorite IPAs. It's balanced but gives you everything you look for in an IPA

Pours a hazy golden color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is mild and lacing is moderate. The aroma is a little on the watered down side. There is mild pine and even less citrus. Somewhat of a dish water aroma as well. It may just be the glass from the brewery. There is a strong piney hop bitterness with a citrus aftertaste. Astringent and dry at the end. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Decent beer. Wish it was available in bottles or cans.
