bottle into Westvleteren 12 glass purchased in Granada, Spain.
appearance: cloudy copper with lots of carbonation bubbles, 2 finger white head, hardly any lacing
smell: Not a whole lot to the nose, but some faint earthy happiness, bubble gum, citrus, coriander, and bread notes are very, very subtle.
taste: to paraphrase, just imagine a pilsner meets a pale ale with hints of a saison funkiness. That's what this is. A lot more going on than the nose would suggest. Initial bready pilsner notes fade into a decently bitter earthy hoppiness, with a subtle crispy, bready malt backbone. Then comes a sweet lingering saison/belgian yeast funky sourness that makes for a remarkably smooth combo.
mouthfeel: highly carbonated with a very thin body.
overall: I have a really lower standard for Spanish beer, I usually just seek out the Belgians whenever I spot them, but this is nowhere in the same class as Cruzcrapo or Mahou, San Miguel, or even Alhambra. This is a spanish craft beer, and my opinion pretty damn good. I would highly recommend this and other their other beers as well, if you are in Southern Spain this is BY FAR the best local beer you can buy. Not sure too if i would classify this is an APA, as the bottle says "Pale Ale".
