This was positively horrible. An immediate drain pour.

Shout out to IPAGeorge for the trade. Pours a cloudy orange color with a thick white head. I love hazy/cloudy beers. Lots of bready malt in the nose with some grapefruit and orange. Taste somewhat follows but the citrus stands out much more. There's gotta be wheat in this stuff, because I definitely pick it up in the taste. Biscuits and toast followed by grapefruit peel and orange juice. Maybe a little pine. A little malty sweetness in there too. Mouthfeel is very well balanced. The bitterness lets itself be known but it doesn't overpower anything. I do think, though, that the bitterness imparts a burnt character to the malts, but that could easily be the malts themselves. Overall, just a nicely done EIPA, and I'm not a fan of EIPAs. This has a bit more going on with it than others I've tried. There's a good balance between malt and hops, with the hops lending a bit more aroma than usual in an EIPA.

Poured from a can into a Duvel tulip.

A: A very opaque orangish color with little head and nice lacing. Personally I like cloudy beers because most I've had are very good. This is very accepting for me.

S: A nice balanced aroma of Carmel, grapefruit and pine. Not one overly distinguishing itself from the other. Just enough to have a nice balanced blend.

T. The Carmel/malty flavor sticks out just a little more at first followed by a little bitterness and then a nice piney, slightly citrusy and herbal aftertaste. Well balanced and complex being able to taste all flavors at different times. Very enjoyable and just slightly bitter enough leaving you to want more.

M. Crisp. Not much else to add there.

O. I really am enjoying this beer. While complex it is very balanced and feels nice and crisp in the mouth. Looks nice and inviting. A nice change from the flux of overly fruity IPA's recently which I do love. It's nice to have something a little different. Really digging this beer.

12 fl oz. can, with no apparent canned on or freshness date on the can. A new beer from a new to me brewery, the semi-local Temperance Beer Co. from Evanston, Illinois. Acquired a single can of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack at the local Binny's. I'm unfamiliar with the brewery, but I have nice expectations per the style.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - It pours a hazed, honeyed golden orange body with some fine sediment in the glass. Two to three fingers of thick frothy off-white head. Leaves behind nice thick scattered lacing throughout. Looks very nice.

S - The aroma is very fresh, fruity, and juicy. Bitter and citrusy - grapefruit, pine needles, mango, lemons. Very appealing, but it smells more American than English, if that makes sense.

T - A very nice balance of juicy fruity hops and bready honeyed malts. Grapefruit, mango, pine, lemons, honeyed bread malts. Very delicious.

M - Crisp and delicious; very easy to drink. Mild hop resins clinging to the palate. Medium bodied with nice carb.

Overall, an impressive IPA from this brewery, if maybe a tad more American than English, like I said. Still, I will be sure to check out more from these guys.
