look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 2.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3

medium amber appearance, small offwhite head.

smell: some malts and caramel, strong fruit/fig

taste: intitially ok although not very complex. Then finish has a slightly sour fermented taste that to my palate is distinctly unpleasant. I've had many Belgian style dubbels and quads with dried fruits and other flavorings. This is a drainpour.

A very nice offering from Wiseacre... Body is a little thin but this smells and tastes really good... A little band aid here and there which I find interesting... Enjoyed this...

Undated bottle at 45 degrees into tulip
Aroma very weak, fruity
Head small (1 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, fizzy, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm ring and broken layer
Lacing none
Body dark amber, slight haze
Flavor sweet and a little figgy; no hops, no malt, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium to full, syrupy, soft carbonation

Appearance 3, Aroma 3, Flavor 3, Palate 2.75, Overall 3. This is not an unpleasant brew, it just has nothing to make me want to buy it over anything else. It’s sweet and syrupy and lacks any yeast phenolics.

This is the first Dubbel I've had to pleasure of tasting and Holy Candy has made me a fan of the style. First don't let the Candy in the name fool you. While there is a sweetness in the beer it is by no means overwhelming. There are caramel notes and a toasted malt taste also. Wonderful brown color.
