Scent of strong caramel and rich sugar with a bit of grass. Taste of cinnamon, sweet grain, caramel, sugar and some light alcohol. A solid Barleywine.

I picked this up purely by chance while passing through Jackson, Mississippi in April of 2017. I was unfamiliar with the beer or brewery and chose this purely based on the awesomely weird label. Still not sure what "Taste the Rarity" means. Its been with me in the cellar since and tonight, for the "GoT" final, is its time. Winter has come.
Opaque brown with creamy head and lace. Nose is toffee and brown bread and figs and plums. Big heavy malt note is the initial thought. There is a warming alcohol sensation but it mellows before it can start burning. That may or may not be due to two years of growth, but I am leaning towards the former. Smooth and delicate considering the circumstances. Hops provide solid balance but don't stand out on their own. Definitely features the dark fruit and a touch of spice in the back end, but maybe I was anticipating more complexity. Still, this should serve me and my HBO Now quite well. Valar Morgulis.

I’m a big fan of barley wines, and this is a great representation of the style.

Shared bomber bottle.
Look: Clear dark copper.
Fruity and rather easy drinking for style.
Overall. A mainstream but above average version of the style.

Poured into a snifter. Very hazy dark caramel color. Thick light tan head with nice lacing. Muted aromas of toffee, orange, and bread. The taste was moderately bitter - with orange, grapefruit, some herbal tones, pine, and plenty of malt with caramel and toffee. Nice warming at the end - did not feel hot.

POURS a chill hazed caramel/copper with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Shows effervescence throughout, great lacing & head retention, never quite clears 100%
S: Not much nose, a little cakeyness
T: Cakey, a little grapefruit, a little mango up front. A little boozey warmth, a little herbal bitterness, more grapefruit & a little pineapple, plus some pine once warm. Finishes with grapefruit, breadyness & mango
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, skews a little hoppy
Drinks easy, doesn't really scream Barely wine, I would almost buy this as a DIPA all day though, needs a little more malt depth. If you're not a stickler on styles you will like this
