Copper to light amber in color. Pretty hazy in appearance with a tightly knit inch thick layer of foam resting on top. Citrus hop aroma seems fairly moderate for a double IPA. I get whiffs of mango and pineapple. The mouthfeel is fairly carbonated, somewhat chalky, and sticky from the hops. It's much mor bold than the nose seems to imply. The front of the palate is greeted with a rush of bitter citrusy hops. It is gradually followed up with a long fade of the hop intensity and then a sense of the light malt backbone remains.

Pours a murky, cloudy ruby-amber, with a substantial head of off-white carbonation. Lovely, ornate, and impressive tri-finger lace.

Nose is aromatic pine and citrus hops, with an element of tropical fruit. Solid.

Taste is where things fall apart for me -- I get a wallop of heavy, sour, acidic, and bitter hoppiness. It's compounded by a big, heavy, and sweet malt profile that is overpowering, too. Sure, this is a huge beer for serious hop-heads, but I don't get a balance, nor any semblance of subtlety here, sorry.

Not one I'd return to.

Pours semi-hazed & effervescent caramel with 3 fingers of tan head. Crazy lacing & head retention, never clears up

S: Pineapple, grapefruit & faint breadyness

T: Some grapefruit, tangerine, pineyness & caramel up front. More grapefruit, a bit of pineapple, pears & pine as this warms, along with leafy hops & earthy hop notes, some booze sneaking around the corner of your tongue & breadyness. Finishes with pears, pineapple, breadyness, caramel & grapefruit & pineyness

MF: Medium bodied, somewhat grainy, lively carbonation & coarse graininess, okay balance

A passable at best DIPA, nothing to get your nickers in a twist about... Just doesn't quite pull together

Thanks to Sean "good to go" Freeman for the bottle. No IBU or ABV date on the label. A Google search revealed it to be 75 IBUs and 9.0% ABV. Lots of sediment floating around the bottom of the bottle. Decanted carefully at refrigerator temperature into a Tallgrass Brewing cervoise glass.

Appearance: Pours about of finger of creamy, bone colored head. Very still with a few big bubbles that stick around. Cloudy cherry/light mahogany colored body. Very cloudy.

Smell: What an interesting nose we have here. Very strong, floral and hoppy. Citrus, blood oranges, pine trees, bright spicy fruitiness and damp hops. New hop profile to me.

Taste: Strong burst of citrusy/orange hoppyness. More of that fruity spiciness. A bit of booze. Herbal/pine bitterness. Some sweet malt. Finishes with a backbone of light, crackery malts.

Mouthfeel: Thinner mouthfeel than expected. Low carbonation which makes it quite creamy. No heat. Sticky.

Overall: A very interesting IPA to be sure and definitely not what I was expecting. From the cherry body to the unique fruity spiciness in the nose/taste. Definitely has a lot going on. Overall though a fine effort from O'Fallon and one you should try at least once. Recommended.
