served from a 12oz. bottle into a pint glass
Poured a very lightly cloudy orange, but not cloudy enough to prevent me from being able to see through it. What surprised me was the complete lack of head. Like, there was none. At all. Yet the carbonation bubbles keep rising. Curious. Is this a really old bottle?
Smelled of sweet malts and piny hops. Nothing else, really. It's basic, but on-point.
This is actually a tasty, balanced beer despite my disappointments so far. Floral hops hit the front of the tongue, but an abundant malty sweetness washes over and removes much of the bitterness. The finish is biscuity with a touch of astringency. It is not complex, it might not even be "good" considering that this is supposed to be an IPA.
This felt good to drink; it had an agreeable medium-thickness and the carbonation was well adjusted. This seems pretty drinkable, especially if you're into the whole balance thing.
This was very disappointing as an IPA. Too much malt component. Hopefully this was just a funky bottle. For what its worth, the contents of the bottle I reviewed would have scored highly as an APA.
