This smooth amber ale uses toasted hemp seed to create a nutty flavor in the finish that compliments the rye and hops (a botanical cousin to hemp). The wide assortment of flavors harmonize, creating a uniquely smooth and flavorful beer!

A nutty, buttery beer that has small bitter notes hanging around, rye in the finish.

Reddish amber in color with lots of fine sediment within the body. There's a half inch of creamy brown head on top. Light lacing. The aroma is dominated by the spicy rye notes along with amber malt that gives light caramel notes. I'm tasting caramel along with some faint earthy rye. The mouth is a bit syrupy and dry.

L: light brown with a reddish tinge. Nice head retention held on until I was over half finished.
S: Slightly rye and herbal
T: initially sweet and nutty transitions to herbal tart hop and rye with a linger rye finish. Not a strong edge very smooth but finishes very tart for me. I honestly can't discern the hemp flavor from the rye.
F: Very little carbonation very easy to drink light bodied beer without much astringency.
O: I don't care for this beer. I have smoked and ate pot but this hemp I really would be reaching to define. I haven't had much rye beer so It could be I didn't like the rye or maybe the hemp seeds. Either way this beer while interesting isn't my thing.

Dark Amber color with a little head on it. Nose has hints of rye, roasted nuts, brown sugar. Taste caramel malts, nutty notes, hints of rye and spice. Clean sweet finish. Offallon's lineup is always solid with different easy to drink beers. This one with the nuttiness from the hemp gives this simple ale a little extra something to have you keep drinking until the 6 pack is gone.

Had at buck & badger in state street. Great color, good smell, slightly flat aftertaste.

Picked this beer up a few weeks back up in Totowa, never having this or anything else from O'Fallon for that matter. I thought that this would be a Rye or Nut Brown Ale and was a bit surprised to see this categorized as an Amber Ale on here. The color didn't fit that profile and neither did the hop profile, as this beer was quite malty in character. As it warmed up, it grew on me but at the same time I wish it had just a bit more bite to it!
The pour to this wasn't anything special as the beer had a nutty hue, a moderate head that quickly settled, and a hazy appearance to it that gave this some much-needed appeal. Lots of walnut and bread in the nose with more in the taste, reinforced by a moderate amount of fig and date-like fruit flavors in the taste. With a lot of dough in the taste and a slightly cloying mouthfeel, this was not as balanced as I was led to believe and since I have no idea what hemp tastes like besides the description given, this was a bit tough to pinpoint. A bit of herbal tea and blood orange gave this some character but this was pretty mild from start to finish, with a slightly oily aftertaste that coated my palate nicely.
Because the alcohol was so light, I didn't notice it at all and could have easily finished off another in my sitting. I'd re-categorize this as a Nut Brown Ale if I had my way but as an Amber, this fit under that umbrella even though it was't a slam-dunk to categorize. This was a nice change from the other offerings that are on the shelf this time of the year and would be great for fall, as the nutty flavor profile and woodiness of this beer would fit in appropriately with the cooler weather and falling leaves.
