Thanks to my inlaws for bringing a growler down for me this past weekend from Hamburg.Pours into an impy pint glass a deep chesnut brown with a thinner beige head atop.Aromas of dark roast and earth with light bitter chocolate, the hops are earthy.Flavors are nutty and earthy with not much sweetness, more like a big earthy porter than hopped up ABA.Like many of the style Hamburg brewery makes a big earthy porter for it's ABA,my first try of this brewery isn't bad, but I want some more hops! (493 characters)

32 oz growler (filled yesterday) at fridge temp poured into a snifter.

Pours out what appears to be opaque black but is actually a dark brown color on the edges. A nice thick, retentive light beige colored head, lots of sticky lace.

Pine, dry grapefruit citrus with a bit of roasty biscuit

Nice taste, big on the evergreen pine needles, dry grapefruit citrus, almost balanced by some caramel, biscuit grains, hints of toasty roasty bitterness. Lots of that dry piney hop bitterness that lingers past the finish.

A solid medium bodied beer. Carbonation is spot on.

A really well made black IPA, a style I'm not super fond of, but this one hits the spot. Out of hamburg's 5 current offerings, this one has to be the best. (728 characters)
