Unknown vintage; drank 12/1/22 @ the Barbarian.
Cloudy orange appearance.
Small white head; decent lace.
Christmas tree, Meyer lemon & faint barnyard funk notes in the nose.
Medium thin, sticky mouthfeel.
Dry pine, lemon pledge & booze heat. This smelled alright but was a drainpour on the palate. I'd avoid this one.

Had Basil Ryeman at The Bitter Alibi, Chattanooga, on draft into (pint?) tumbler.
Pours light straw gold, with 1-finger, creamy near-white head, which dissipates to a persistent ring and leaves a few specks of lace. Big spicy basil and Belgian yeast aroma off the pour, which never fades, but also doesn't allow any other aromas to breathe. Begins sweet but biting, then malty and creamy with rye spice and yeast spice and a little fruit, before warming, spicy alcohol finish.
Huge farmhouse ale which features basil, Belgian yeast, rye and alcohol--to the exclusion of just about everything else.

On draft at the brewery. Poured out a clear, golden yellow color with a small, white head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled strongly of basil, spices, crackers and bready notes. Sweet caramel and toffee taste with a big basil punch and a yeasty finish.
