A much-needed beer outlet in the impoverished uptown district. area. It's on the Washington Street commercial strip exactly on the border of Hillcrest and Mission Hills.
Twelve nicely-selected taps with an emphasis on lesser-known San Diego breweries. Belching Beaver's Rabid Beaver DIPA was a standout, with others from Hess, Latitude 33, St. Archer, Green Flash, Ballast Point, AleSmith, Coronado, Ironfire, and Lightning. Other brews have included Great Divide Titan, Oskar Blues GKnight, Steelhead Scotch, Victory Hop Devil, and others from Speakeasy and Drake's.
Food is pretty good, notably the toasted sandwiches and paninis. Also salads, desserts, hot drinks, and a lot of wines. It's a small place on the corner but wide rather than deep, and windows stretching the full length of the place. Totally friendly and eager to please service. When was the last time a lady bartender asked you your name?
