Golden in color, light in body and delightfully hoppy in all the right ways. ‘Til Sunset is the session beer hop heads have been waiting for. Low in ABV and high in hop flavor and aroma. Generously hopped with American Centennial and dry hopped again with even more Centennial for a fantastic hop flavor profile. Hand crafted to be enjoyed responsibly ‘Til Sunset.

The eradication of the pesky backlog CANtinues as The CANQuest (tm) racks 'em up, sets 'em down & generally does its own thing!

From the CAN: "Lickinghole Creek is a farm brewery producing hops, barley and beer on 260 acres in the heart of Virginia. Lickinghole Creek is a water-conscious brewery. We brew with well water drawn from the deep. Our wastewater is purified on site and returned to the Lickinghole Creek watershed."; "Golden in color, light in body and delightfully hoppy in all the right ways. ‘Til Sunset is the session beer hop heads have been waiting for. The Crack! led to some foaming through the vent, which in turn motivated a quick Glug on my part into the awaiting glass. I was left with just under three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with excellent retention that slowly fell away, leaving behind nice lacing. Color was Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, causing The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus to run into my kitchen from the living room, where they were watching the 2018 FIFA World Cup, to get a taste. Nose had a citrusy, pithy bitterness, like grapefruit rind & pith. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was less intense than on the nose, but still quite bitter. It struck me as being kind of one-dimensional in that I was not getting much in the way of an offsetting maltiness. I know that it seems CANterintuitive for me to be CANplaining about bitterness, but this was not all that pleasant as the result of its intensity. Even worse is the idea that it was intended as a "Session AIPA" and one would be plenty for me. Finish was dry and bitter, but I was left with a very bitter grapefruit taste in my mouth. It was just a bit too much. YMMV. Another CANsideration is how it matches up to other AIPAs since the Session AIPA style does not exist on this site. Simply put, it does not.

L: Poured from a can to a pint glass. Had an orange color and a hazy texture. There was a half inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Good, but not great, lacing.

S: An OK aroma of hops, malt, citrus, and a grassy quality.

T: Tasted of a little bit of malt, a slight grassiness, light citrus notes (orange, especially), a whole lot of hops, a hint of a floral element, and some grapefruit as well. The main problem with the flavor here is that it's overly hopped. It's simply far too bitter. The other ingredients are good, but are overwhelmed by the hops.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a far to bitter finish. Light- to medium-bodied.

O: Definitely an uneven beer. There are good parts to it, but it lets you down in the flavor.

Orange / copper body with a white head. Aromas of pine resin, malt, grapefruit zest. Malty, resinous flavor with medium bitterness and tangy, tart citrus, particularly grapefruit. Decent.

12 oz. can. Hazy orange. Big white head. Grapefruit and resiny hop aroma. Slightly sweet malt on the nose too. Tastes of grapefruit hops. Aggressively bitter. Light sweet malt flavor. Pithy back end. Medium light. Pretty drinkable. It is quite bitter, but that doesn’t bother me much.

This is a really flavorful session IPA, quite enjoyable. Nice heft and balance. I was glad to have this during a company event so things didn't get too out of hand!

L: Golden Beer, decent, creamy white head.

S: Not a whole lot of smell on this one. Grassy hops, touch of floral notes, little bit of breadiness.

T: Starts of grassy, toasted malts, hay then there is a wave of bitterness bringing a far more floral hoppiness to the beer. The end is dry, almost bracing in it's bitterness.

M: This has some body, which stands up nicely to the hops. With a large amount of carbonation.

O: I am enjoying this beer thoroughly. The bitterness is intense, but the malts and body help the beer to stand up to it.

I have been to the brewery a few times and have had a great time. Good food truck offerings, enjoyable music and of course great beer. I fill my growler with many of their offerings where I can find them as well as buy their bottled and canned beer.

On the plus side this beer has a very detectable and pleasant floral smell. However, there is an equally noticeable hop bitterness taste. I get the attraction to brews with taste that are low on the ABV scale but for me the taste is a little too bitter to consume many at one sitting as one would do with a session beer.

Overall, it is good beer to try to see if it is what you want in a session beer.

Pours a cloudy medium orange with a big foamy white head. The head has great retention and leaves medium-sized soapy lacing. The aroma is pretty light but does have some pleasant floral and citrus qualities. The taste is about the same, with the addition of the malty sweetness. The body is a little heavier than most session IPAs and that's a good thing. There's just a slight persistent carbonation and a little hops bite on the finish.
