Thanks to rudzud
Great creamy thick 1 fingered head darker colored, fades slowly nice retention, little lacing, tons of nice lacing, pitch black color, thick dark
Nose tons of chocolate, a little dark chocolate but more chocolate syrup like, weird barrel oak notes, into roasted dark stout like char anise almost acrid roast, mild baking spices, with some earthy spicy like notes, little dark fruit notes bringing faint rum, like rum soaked raisin covered in chocolate syrup
Taste brings more of the same from the nose, some chocolate syrup, and dried chocolate powder like, into dark fruit raisin like and rum notes, again raisin soaked in rum covered in chocolate syrupy is the main description, but also more earthy spicy hop notes, chocolate roasted like notes, a little generic roast, weird bitterness from the hops, but also a little stale tasting oxidation like thing, finishing drier with a bit of alcohol and fair bitter spicy hops lingering, sticky syrupy chocolate syrup
Mouth is med bod, feels thicker yet thin at the same time, a bit of alcohol warmth and nice carb
Overall interesting beer but not that great, I like the raisiny fruit and rum, but doesn't go well with the bitter hop notes, chocolate is kinda syrup like tasting, alcohol is there but not quite up to 13+%, the sum of the parts is less than the whole this time

Received two years ago and cellared. Shared with JLindros.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark black with a two finger mocha head that fades to leave sticky lacing and a nice blanket.
S - Aromas of chocolate syrup, bitter hops, light dark fruits, nice slightly spiced rum. Pleasant with no discernable alcohol.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with really bitter hops. More of the fake almost cloy chocolate notes. The rum is nice and pleasant, however, there is a stale almost oxidized taste.
M - Mouthfeel is brightly carbonated, thin body. The alcohol is hidden nicely.
O - Overall this was a rather underwhelming syrupy stout. I had hoped time would mellow the hops out, as they tend to go hop crazy on the stouts, but unfortunately I was wrong.
