On tap at brewery:
Pours a dark brown, if not black. Head is off-white, nice ring around the edge with some lacing. Maybe a bit too dark for the style, really.

Smell is nutty, mefium light in strength, but evident. There's a hint of roasted chocolate/coffee notes, which likely explain the dark color. I like the nose, but again, a tad dark for style.

Taste is a little more aggressive and feel a bit more full bodied than a typical brown (especially a British version). This I am fine with and encourage as a change. My slight problem with the beer is the roasted notes come out stronger than the nutty ones. It seems more like a nutty porter that's brown ale.
Ignoring this personal distinction, I do enjoy how the chocolate malt notes play into the beer, but fade to give way to the nutty toasted malts. Ending is a typical slightly coating oily nut feel/flavor.

Enjoyable beer that might be a bit of a crossover, or at the least not 100% true to the, style. I would like to see more brown ales along this line, even if it isn't traditional.
