From a growler I had filled today at the brewery.

A deep ruby/amber in color with a short light brown head.

Banana and spicy aroma. Very nice.

Classic Belgian flavor: Complex and earthy and spicy, with bread flavors to boot. Excellent.

Hefty body.

Overall a very nice Belgian-style ale from St. Petersburg. Green Bench is new, but they can brew.

On tap at Green Bench for Foeder for Thought. Foeder #3. Pours a copper color with great lacing, thin light tan head, thin collar. Aroma is funky red wine, grassy-earthy. Taste is much like the nose but with some caramel sweetness too. Fuller body than the Saison de Banc Vert, and some more carbonation as well.

Malty spice, some bananas and really dry, almost tastes oxidized.

a rather pedestrian saison for me here, dark red in color with a nice white head and good retention on it, but the use of that wine heavy french saison type yeast is off putting with all the darker grain in here, and a balance is never really discovered in either aroma or flavor that makes this a beer id like to drink again. it seems disjointed, like a weird strain of yeast got pitched into a copper ale or something, it has that style hybrid weirdness and lack of fluidity. i do like the feel though, with a on of big soda like bubbles and a medium body that finishes bone dry. my problem i think is just the yeast, its unflattering to the grain selected, and while the beer hints at being well made, i think the recipe may just need a bit of reworking. i didnt dislike it, but it was disagreeable to my palate from a yeast standpoint. will need to try others from green bench to get a better feel for it, but this was forgettable in the form i had it.
