Stopped in here after City Beer Store since it is right around the corner. I had heard great things from the guys at TH so I was really looking forward to checking this place out. Atmosphere was quite good. Stopped in just after they opened and there was already plenty of people around the bar area and at the tables. Service was great. Bartenders were awesome, we never had to wait more than a minute or two for a new beer. Quality was top notch across the board. Selection was great. 10 beers on, two kicked, and one leftover cask from the night before. My favorite was Jezebel and the cask, both of which were awesome. No food so no rating there. Prices were a little high for my tastes, we were only getting the 5oz pours and some were $4 a piece. It was almost $30 to try them all. Overall an awesome brewpub in the heart of the city. I would be a regular here if I lived in the area. (890 characters)

just a short walk from the mikkeller bar, if you dont mind a colorful couple of blocks, you can make a heck of a day in this part of this city, thats for sure. teeny tiny taproom here just a block off the beaten path. i was surprised how packed it was, standing room only, but probably 40 people is the most that could squeeze in here, something like that. small bar not too many seats there, but a colorful chalkboard menu displaying the days offerings, which were diverse and abundant. i had four beers here, with all of them being over the top delicious. contains nuts was one of the more unique brews out there, and the hoppy stuff was all simply sensational. its obvious that in a short time these guys have built quite a loyal following. growlers were being filled up at a frenetic pace, and the two or three bartenders had no chance of keeping up. they were still friendly and welcoming though, and i liked that they took such care. for how good the beer is, this place is shockingly unpretentious. everyone was cool, it felt like everyone there was in the know, like a club of beer people enjoying an undiscovered treasure. i know some hype is getting out there, but this is still a real humble operation and a place that should absolutely be on your san francisco bucket list! (1,285 characters)

After an afternoon of hiking on a Sunday, my son and I hit Cellarmaker to relax and have a few beers before heading home. On a Sunday, parking on Howard wasn't a problem. While smaller than expected, it a nice layout with high ceilings and cozy tables. Good crowd which got to standing room only later in the afternoon. Mix of ages and pretty mellow. 12 choices on type of several different varieties with IPAs being center stage, but a nice variety of porters, English bitter, strong ales, and blonde ale.

Great addition to the SOMA area. We will be back! (558 characters)

A nice selection of about 10 beers on tap. A nice variety of sizes available to be poured. A funky, but small room in a slightly strange part of SF, but overall nice beer with good quality across the board. (208 characters)

Great beers with an emphasis on all things hoppy and delicious. Slightly small space can fill up quickly and get a bit noisy/chaotic, but the beer is definitely worth it. Growlers available to go as well. (204 characters)

Cellarmaker Brewing Company is located in the San Fran neighborhood of SOMA with nothing else around it. I would think a hip spot like this would be in a neighborhood with restaurants and stores and such. The tasting room was . housed in a industrial modern warehouse setting with nicely done wooden bar and tables. Small place which easily can be overrun with people when busy. Well it wasn't so busy but when we arrived on a Tuesday evening the three tables available for patrons were being taken by people not drinking or drinking very little at all. Ordered a flight of 10 five ounce pours. A lot for a flight and I thought pricey at $23. Welcome to San Francisco. Read some positive reviews of this brewery so I was excited to be there until I started drinking the beer. I immediately noticed no stouts or porters on tap. It may be summer in San Francisco but a summer in San Francisco can be the coldest spring day. Cellarmaker you need a stout or a porter on the tap list. The beers that I did have were underwhelming except for a nut brown ale and one other that I don't remember as all of the other beers were underwhelming. Had Blonde Mom's, Contains Nuts, an English Bitter and two saisons lacking in aroma, mouth feel and finish. (1,255 characters)

They know their hops and it's a great place to drink some ales. They do a lot of collaborations with other breweries in the bay area. (133 characters)

Visited this place 3 days in a row while in San Francisco for vacation, loved it!

The space is awesome, not too big, not tool small. High ceilings, brick walls, open air wall in front. Enough space at bar and at tables and stools away from bar.

Service was OUTSTANDING! Bartenders have great attitudes and super efficient.

I loved the Original Dankster, wish they had more IPAs on while I was there, but could have drank Original Dankster all night long.

Place is close to perfect. (486 characters)

I finally got a chance to visit Cellarmaker a few days ago.

Crowded and small place on Howard Street, packed on a week night, but I was served pretty quickly by a pleasant girl working the bar. Kind of bummed I had to stand the whole time I was there.

I tried two beers, a DIPA and a Pale, both were excellent, very tasty, and unique as well.

Selection was quite good. I believe they were a dozen beers with a pretty good variety of styles represented.

All in all, and outstanding place, would be nice if they had a bit more room. (536 characters)

ultra-friendly staff, really unique location (amazing they tucked a brewery away inside here), and beers that are really "on the mark"

keep your eye on these folks, they are doing great stuff (192 characters)

This might be my new favorite California brewery. I'm from Los Angeles but I used to live in SF before there were any real breweries here (sorry anchor steam). Arrived on a Friday at opening and there was a crowd of 20 or so waitng to be let in. You know it's gonna be good if there's a crowd. Parked myself at the bar and ordered 5 tasters: mocha and cigarettes, dank side of the moon, mo passion, new beer smell and ottos jacket. All stellar-mo passion was the standout for me. If you are a hop head and love a beautifully crafted, well constructed and balanced pale/ipa/dipa then run, don't walk to cellarmaker. Within 15 minutes the place was packed. Dank side and mocha were just released so that probably added to the crowd. Bring your empty (clean) growlers. These guys will fill just about any vessel that's from a brewery used to hold beer. One guy said he saw someone bring in a 1 gallon hydro flask from a brewery and they filled it. Definitely worth the trip-awesome place, awesome people, awesome beer. Expect big things from these guys. (1,050 characters)

Even though my rating is not that high, for me, as a hop head, this is a go to. Their beverages are almost perfect in my opinion. I think they can do better in some other categories and they will in time. (205 characters)
