While Four Firkins is nearly in my back yard, I find myself heading to France44 more and more often. One, because they still manage to have the beers Firkins ran out of only moments after they came in the door. Two, the selection of COLD micros is pretty extensive and if your looking to be sucking down that Deschutes any time in the next couple of hours it is a convenience that is not found may places. Three, very helpful staff. They may not know what your talking about but they sure as hell will find you the answer, which in the past has meant putting me in direct contact with their distributor.
There are cheaper place, there are places with better selection, overall France44 offers a very well-rounded beer experience in one of the best wine stores in the metro.
***Recently their prices have been edging upwards, making it no longer a good value based on selection.***

Recently remodeled with the addition of a second level. The upper level offers different rooms and areas for private events and classes.
The liquor store on the main level is clean, bright (with high ceilings), and well organized. Most beer is displayed in coolers with doors or in the large walk in cooler. Beer on the outside shelves of the walk in cooler is arranged in alphabetical order by brewer name, and the center part of the walk in cooler has stacks of recent arrivals and larger package sizes. Selected beers feature a recommendation by individuals of the beer staff. Well curated beer selection; the section for macro beer is relatively small and located at the back corner of the store. Very good selection of imported beers, but the main emphasis is on offering the latest from local and regional breweries. Small selection of single beers, at room temperature, for building a specially priced six pack. Very good selection of non-alcohol beer, as well as THC-infused (non-alcohol) drinks.
Staff is knowledgeable, educated, friendly, and very helpful when needed. On many Saturday afternoons, a select brewery comes in to offer samples. Carryout service is offered.
The majority of the square footage of the store is used to display liquor, wine, spirits, glassware, and gear. Downstairs there are lockers for rent for individual customer storage, mainly for wine.
In the same building is the cheese, butcher, and bakery shop, which also offers a few taps for beer. One can get a glass of beer and take the glass into the liquor store while shopping. Customers can also bring leashed dogs into the liquor store.
Public restrooms are located near the main entrance. There is a controlled flow parking lot located next to the store. Valet parking is offered for special events and classes held upstairs.
This is my favorite beer shopping store in the metro Twin Cities area, and staff Bill, Bennett, Kayla, and Rob have been a great aid in my beer enjoyment journey.

I only used their online service, and they always provided very prompt service. Very good selection, especially local stuff, and priced competitively (and the freight charges were very reasonable). Good resource to use.

Super clean, well organized store. Two things I noticed that made me feel good about shopping here were that 95% of the beer is kept in coolers, and things that were close to their "best by" date were marked down. This lets me know that they care about the beer having the best possible representation under their control. The other thing I liked was the staff recommendation tags. I have no idea who any of those people are, let alone know their palates, but if they're well organized and care about the beer as previously mentioned, I'm going to trust the staff is well educated on what they're recommending as well. Overall a very pleasant and comfortable shopping experience.

Their selection is good and they keep about 90% of their beer refrigerated which helps prevent stale beer. They also have a wonderful little cheese shop where you can get a baguette and some epoisses to go with your beer.
