Give me liberty, or give me death! Our tribute to Patrick Henry, who not only left his mark on Virginia history, but was also one of our most beloved Founding Fathers. Henry led the opposition to the Stamp Act, but he was also central to arguing in a Virginia court against the King’s right to veto colonial laws. The Crown’s veto was nullified in his efforts and his argument was the first notch in a young Patrick Henry’s career. Cheers to the break from the Crown, Patty! Hope you enjoy our English Brown Ale as a tribute!
This Northern English Brown Ale is filled with a variety of English malts giving it great caramel, nutty, toffee flavors with a touch of chocolate and even espresso. The English Hops offer the perfect balance to the complex malt sweetness, providing a earthy/grassy hop finish.

Malty and then a pleasant chocolate coffee roasted flavor lingers. Tasted in a flight at the brewery.

I tried this at the Roanoke, VA location. It poured a clear amber with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had hints of malt. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with malt base and subtle bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was a good beer.

Another thanks to C. with the random J. who happens to be less giant than his name might indicate, for this here beer...
No Veto has a warm and inviting appearance. More of the deepest brick red color rather than brown, but does flaunt darker shades along with a glowing amber at the base. Beautiful clarity. A thin tanned head leaves a creamy looking ring around the rim and a large but slowly disippating island floating in the center.
The aroma is all brown ale. Roasted chestnuts and walnuts ground up and slathered on some perfectly toasted white bread. A spice, unrecognizable, gives it a robust finish.
Squaw bread lightly toasted rather than a heavily toasted white bread takes front and center. A bite of sweet toffee with crushed nuts and a light handed drizzle of chocolate gives a centered decadence. The nuttiness lingers on hand in hand with a slightly spicy and woody finish.
A little light in stature. The light carbonation helps the heft lacking liquid disguise itself, but makes up for it with incredible drinkability. An overall balanced beer with a teeter totter of sweet, apexing at nutty, and landing on the spicy, lightly bitters side.
A delicious and nutty focused brown ale. In my opinion the only place it needs to pick up some slack is the feel. A slightly heavier body would make this incredible. Cheers!

I don't see a date printed anywhere on the label or bottle.
Appearance: The body is a dark brown-black with a deep mahogany color shining through with the light. The head is medium-sized and creamy textured with various off-white and light-tan bubbles.
Aroma: It smells like coffee and a slight bit of burnt aroma like carbon.
Taste: Up front there is caramel and then there is a light bit of raisin and burnt sugar. It's a good tasting beer. After a while it builds up just a light bit of spearmint flavor in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: It's an easy drinking beer with a smooth and medium bodied mouthfeel.
Overall: It's a nice flavorful English Brown Ale that is very easy to just sit back and enjoy. It would pair well with nearly anything but it would go especially well with pub style food. The beer is tasty while drinking the beer but it also leaves a nice sweet aftertaste in the mouth. I would drink it again and I would recommend it.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. A clear medium brown color in the glass with a soft but thick light tan head. There was a nice nutty aroma, along with some caramel, bread, and floral hoppy notes. The taste was bready with slight caramel that did not give it too much sweetness. The roasted grains were on point for a brown, with no chocolate and more nutty/caramel than roast. A nice hop presence with a floral quality. Medium bodied and very flavorful. Really well-done.

I brought home a growler of this brew, quite tasty. I like the nuttiness which tones down the sweetness. Tickled the taste buds on this chilly night.

Pours with a dark but not opaque brown body that is topped by a very durable beige head. Ample sticky lacing get left on the glass.
The aroma has some coffee, dark bread and roasted nut notes.
The flavor has more roasted nuts and dark bread as well as hints of coffee. Mild bitterness. Richly flavored for style.
Medium-light carbonation and a smooth, medium body.

Pours fairly clear and brown in color like weak coffee. a substantial head from a hard pour leaves thick sticky lacing.
Aroma of toffee, caramel, and coffee.
Taste is roast malt. Nutty, with a hint of bitter chocolate. Sweet, but not overly so. Light acidity. Hints of dark fruits in the aftertaste.
Light to medium in body. Oily. Lightly syrupy and drying in the end.
Overall, a smooth easy drinking beer. Well balanced, everything seems to work together.
