This beer pours a cloudy, pale color with a decent amount of carbonation. The aroma is a strong mix of clove with some banana hints as well. The taste is smooth and crisp with a lot of flavor, especially banana. The finish is somewhat rough and unmemorable but other than that, this beer seems pretty decent for a hefeweizen. There's a decent amount of lacing left in the glass afterwards as well. Not the best I've had but I get the impression that a lot of brewers are starting to perfect their mastery of this style

BBC does such a fantastic job with their seasonals; this one may be one of the best yet. They seem to have stayed with the traditional style, very European in taste. Has similar characteristic to a mild Belgian Ale. The only area this beer lacks serious characteristic is in its appearance. No frothy head, and not very deep character in its body. Big musty blast, with floral hints on the nose. Big time fruits on the tongue, pear, and granny smith apples, simply wonderful.

The first "5" I've given in the drinkability category. Simply put, the beer goes down like water. No ABV listed, I guess not very high, but this sucker is tasty.

Berkshire Hefeweizen...

Appearance-pale golden color, unfiltered so lots of head and carbonation, rises up into the glass.

Smell-loads of banana, slight hops and grain, malt is hidden well as is the alcohol.

Taste/Mouthfeel- grainy notes with a big kick of banana flavor and other fruit, smooth and light, goes down great, nice aftertaste with a kick of alcohol and continued notes of banana and citrus.

Drinkability-refreshing and flavorful, plus its a hefe which is a great choice on a hot summer day.

Overall-by far Berkshire's best beer and a great version of the style, flavorful and complex without being too heavy, well done.

If I didn't know this was from Massachusetts, I would swear this was from Germany. A spectacular interpretation of the hefeweizen style, done nearly to perfection. All the clove and banana notes are there, plus every last refreshing nuance. Delicious and highly recommended.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a Shock Top Weizen glass.

The color is a cloudy yellowish orange with two fingers of foamy white head ans some thick lacing left on the glass.

The smell is popping with a peach mixed with a pear aroma in the nose. There is some banana there as well and reminds me of a banana flavored Now and Later.

The taste is wheaty and has a good grainy flavor. There is a nice clove flavor that goes into the fruit flavor that is in the back and rides things along toward the end.

The feel of this beer is pretty smooth and light. It is highly drinkable and makes for a great summer beer.

22 oz. bomber poured into UFO Hefe glass. No bottled on date for this one.

A: Cloudy, tan/orange with great foam, that subsides but leaves good lacing.

S: Bananas, bubblegum and citrus.

T: Bananas with slight clove. Slight bitterness on the finish.

M: Very carbonated and medium mouthfeel. Not too thick but not watery.

D: This is a very good hefeweizen in my opinion and could easily session this stuff. Too bad this does not come in growlers....or does it? I have yet to be disappointed by BBC.

22oz bottle purchased from Winchester Wine & Spirits, Winchester, MA. An excellent choice, one which I'd rate nearly on par with an Ayinger. The head is less dramatic than other Hefeweizens, and is a shade less than brilliant white but the aroma is quite intriguing: the usual banana but with subdued cloves and a slight taste of apples, and a surprising hint of Bazooka bubble gum. Not overly bubbly, and has a very pleasant density. A definite keeper. I wish this came in a six-pack.

I picked up a few bombers on a trip to MA since this one was not offered in CT at the time. Great label with Gary and Chris on the front. No lemon needed for this offering. Besides it takes away from the true flavor of the beer. Poured a hazy yellow golden color. I made sure to leave a bit for the swirl to get the rest of the yeast out of the bottle. Clean white fluffy head that dissipated quite quick but left some decent clinging lace behind. Well carbonated but not overly bubbly. The smell is extremely floral and sweet. Tones of dough, banana, slight lemon hints, and also a mix of bubble gum and clove tossed in as well. Nice and buttery scent in the nose.

Taste is rather fruity with a big yeasty dough flavor. Tones of banana and sweet malt capture the tongue. Sugar cookie with a side of butter come to mind mixed in with the fruity hints. Nice taste and mouth feel. Smooth rolling flavor that really gives your mouth quite the experience. Certainly has a dough like yeast hint that mixes well with the mild fruit tones. This brew holds true to style and is very tasty. My wife and I really enjoy having this offering during the summer months. I would recommend this beer to anyone looking for a great tasting Hefeweizen. This is another true to style winner from the guys at Berkshire Brewing. This is an awesome summer time beer!

Berkshire Brewing company is a small craft brewery located just a short drive north of here in Massachusetts. Released at the peak of Summer, their Hefeweizen is only available into the fall (usually). I'm a big fan of the seasonals from Berkshire Brewing Company so we often stock up a little extra at the store to enjoy these brews beyond their season alone.

This 22oz Bottle of Berkshire Brewing Hefeweizen pours a brilliant golden straw color. Just a touch of haziness fills the glass, with a thin layer of ivory white foam on top. Last time I had this Hefeweizen the foam over-flowed my glass, but this is a few months older so I'm not really surprised the carbonation has faded a little.

What really strikes me in this brew is the nose; every time I have the Berkshire Hefeweizen I'm impressed by the aromas! More than any other Hefe that I've had, this smells like a glass full of banana! There's a little bit spice in the background, but the aromas are easily dominated by the banana, citrusy lemon, and other light fruity aromas.

The Hefeweizen is as full on the palate as it was on the nose. There's a significant portion of that banana and citrus that I was picking up in the aromas, as well as a substantial portion of spice. Flavorful and full, yet easy-drinking and refreshing! Not exactly the best brew to keep me warm on a cold night, but I've been drinking so many big stouts lately that this is a nice change of pace!

Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light amber color with a foamy white head that fades quickly and leaves very little lace on the glass.

S: This aroma is very yeasty with banana, wheat & a little bit of lemon & hops.

T: A bready but very refreshing taste of wheat & yeast with some banana & lemon. Wheat & lemon stay behind in a faint after-taste.

M: Very crisp & smooth, but a little watery, high carbonation, light body, clean finish.

D: I drank this one down very quickly. It’s tasty, refreshing and not filling at all. Excellent summer brew and a good representation of style.

Pours a light gold, translucent in color. Head fades fairly quickly. Get a huge whiff of that almost-wet-socks wheat smell off the top, but it is oddly alluring. Taste is nice and refreshing, a big wheat bomb with lots of banana and citrus, and some nice spicing backing it. Mouthfeel is crisp and appropriately carbonated. This is a nice and light-bodied, very drinkable summer beer. Very well done.

Pours a cloudy tan orange body with a strong pillowy soft white head. The nose is cloves, spicy aromatics, banana, and a strong orange aroma. The inital taste is smooth, starts with a wheat twang that follows with a nice honey malt balance. You can really taste the citrus upfront, orange peels, banana followed by a spicy hop kick. The feel in the finish is somewhat rough, a little too acidic not enough malt balance in the end, but very good overall.

L: Pours a nice orange-yellow color with a tall and thick bodied white colored head that laces the glass some on the way down.
S: Smells of very sweet malts a hint of citris, and then a nice banana aroma, followed by a hint of clove.
T: Tastes the same as it smells with a nice wheaty malty base with a nice hint of citrisy hops, then a good banana and clove flavor to round it off.
M: Very smooth, inviting, with the right amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable beer. None of the tastes were overpowering and it blended very nicely together.

A nice, slightly cloudy, unpasteurized hefeweizen. Nice white foamy head. Heavy on the citrus and spice notes. The flavor was a little more lemony than I'd have expected. Not my favorite hefeweizen but it was refreshing. Would have been perfect on a really hot night.
