Presentation: 22 oz brown bomber with a Purchase Before Month Notched freshness date on the side of the label.
Appearance: Fluffy creamy colored lace that holds to the glass well, mildly hazed rusty amber color.
Smell: Oh so malty in the aroma, waves of layered sweetness, faint caramel and toasted malt flow into the nostrils.
Taste & Mouth Feel: Big lagered smoothness with a growing crispness in the back, slick malty mouth feel with a full body. Lots of malt on the tongue ranging from a ghost like caramel to a straight-lined toasted grain, bready to doughy. Hops are mellow from the age yet have still held on to the balance, hints of herbal flavor come forth as soon as a warming alcohol drops in and nearly feigns a bock like appearance. Ends with a solid residual maltiness and lingering alcoholic warmth.
Notes: They should call this one an Oktobefestbockbier. This is one hefty no holds bared brew, it shows its strength as well as its age. If you feel up to it give it a try, as for my thoughts it is on one of the best not only in the NE area but all of the US as far as the style goes. Compare it to imports its on a different level.

Split with JLindros. Reviewed from notes.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear light copper hue with a good one finger off white head that faded to leave a light creamy blanket.
S - Aroma is fairly typical for an oktoberfest. A bit on the malty/bready side for me.
T - Taste is more of the same, caramel (lots of it), sweeter malts, biscuits, slight toffee. Again, a bit too sweet for my tastes.
M - Mouthfeel was fairly solid. Nicer carbonation here little sharp on the tongue.
O - Overall, slightly unimpressed by this one. Its a decent Oktoberfest, but just a bit too sweet for my tastes.
