On tap, Sunset Grill & Tap, Brighton, MA. Poured into 11 oz. rounded glass
A: Very, very dark. Thinnest amount of head, mainly just around the edge of the glass, with some about the surface of the beer.
S: Nothing remarkable about the smell. Not overwhelming, but not bad either.
T: Rich & creamy. Not overwhelmingly coffee taste, as much chocolate as coffee. Taste more subtle than in-your-face.
M: Good feel, not bitter, very creamy. Easy on the tongue/mouth, especially compared to other porters/stouts.
D: Easy drinkability. Does not fill you up quickly or put you out of commission early.
Serving type: on-tap

1 PT. 6 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter
A - This beer is very dark. When held to the light only a faint ruby glow is perceptible. It is topped with a couple inches of tan head. There is a little lacing.
S - I smell some coffee, but it is not strong at all. There really isn't much else.
T - I get a some coffee and roasted malt. There is a mildly bitter finish.
M - Medium with low carbonation.
O - Full disclosure: this beer has two things working against it. This is my second beer of the evening. The first was a Peruvian Morning with huge coffee smell and taste. This beer lacks compared but still has its own merits. Second, this bottle was purchased in Massachusetts about ten months ago. I may have held on to it for too long. It is decent but not as good as the score indicates. i will revisit given the opportunity for a fresher bottle and a cleaner palate.
