Have had it in bombers and draft, draft seemed to be more consistent because this beer often sits in shops fridge's for a while.

Poured from a bomber into a heavy glass 16oz beer mug.

A - About as dark as brown can get without being black. Slight ruby hues showing through on the edges when held up tot he light, and about an inch of khaki head that dissipated after a few minutes leaving a thin layer of bubbles with marginal lacing. I could have done with a more lasting foam, but otherwise looks exactly how you want a porter to look.

S - Black coffee, of course. Dark wheat toast, roasted oats and malt and hints of chocolate. At the tail end there's a hint of molasses and citrus with the chocolate and coffee lingering throughout.

T - Matches what the nose implies. Heavy toasted malt followed by earthy chocolate tones and dark coffee. Mid-sip introduces toasted breads and molasses back into the mix, with a finish of dark malt, toasted oats, bitter chocolate, coffee and a hint of citrusy acidity.

M - Adequate carbonation and viscosity makes this feel like drinking black silk. Starts off bold and stays that way through the sip, but finishes dry with a touch of alcohol warmth and never feels syrupy. More or less exactly the way drinking a Porter is supposed to feel.

O - Definitely one of the better coffee porters I've had, and an excellent representation of the style (which, if you've tried anything else Berkshire makes, shouldn't come as any surprise.) Something I will recommend and pick up again.

Served in a pint glass at Woody's.

Appearance: A one finger mocha head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pitch black color with no vision of anything. Nice lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Roasted coffee, earthy, bittersweet chocolate, and slight toasted, bready, caramel, toffee, and smokey notes in the rear.

Taste: Coffee and chocolate up front with everything else in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Creamy, silky, smooth, mild bitterness, medium bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Pretty solid porter. One of my local favorites for this style.

Serving: In a sampler at Supreme Liquors in Central Square
Served: 19 September 2014

Appearance: Pours a nice dark brown with a dirty brown head. The head didn't stick around long but it could have been from the size of the sampler glass. 4/5

Smell: Strong notes of coffee with some mild sweetness there too. Almost smells like coffee ice cream. 4/5

Taste: Wow, really awesome flavor on this one. While the coffee in the beer is obviously one of the primary draws, it isn't dominating. Instead, I got a nice balance between coffee and maltiness, and even a nice assertion of smokiness on the back end, from the roasted malt. Really superbly done. 4.25/5

Feel: Nice and full on the tongue without being thick. Good carbonation gives it just enough liveliness to carry the beer on the palate without being too effervescent for the style.

Overall: A really great beer that I would highly recommend. A easy drinking coffee flavored beer that doesn't beat you over the head with anything. Outstanding. 4/5
