22oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint Glass. It has a really nice color to it. It looks black until you hold it to the light. Once you do that it's a very dark brown, kind of a mahogany highlight in the middle of it, the edges remain pretty dark. While pouring it it has a nice dark frothy head that's darker than most porters that I've had, similar to a chocolate or coffee milk color. While being poured it almost looks like it has a Guinness nitro effect, very nice looking. The smell is good, very malty. Has a very chocolaty aroma to it. The smell is good, but not very complex. The taste is very good, like the smell, it's very malty and chocolaty. With all of the chocolate malts it reminds me more of a stout than a porter, but it's still very tasty. Not much of a hop presence in this porter. Chocolate is really the dominant taste, it has more of a chocolate taste than a lot of porters and stouts that have "chocolate" or "mocha" in the name. The mouthfeel is good, very full bodied. The hops are detected more here than in the taste. It's a good drinkable porter.
