It looks like Berkshire has recently added New Hampshire to their distribution, so this is only the second beer I've had from them, but I'm looking forward to trying more.
Poured a dark mahogany brown to fill up the glass with an almost pitch black and a creamy, moderately thick tan head. With a little bit of time, the head fades to leave a thin but good looking lace.
Aroma is in your face sweet at first, with a nice caramel and chocolate aroma. A slight hint of roasted/burnt aroma compliments the sweetness well and provides an overall nice showing of the malt bill.
Taste was a similar experience to the aroma, with a notable sweetness followed by a nice roasted note. The roasted flavor is not as strong as some other porters that I like, but then again this isn't a stout, so I can accept that. Obviously this does not have as much coffee flavor as Berkshire coffee porter (which itself is the same beer as this, just with coffee beans added), I can appreciate a nice subtle chocolate covered espresso flavor in this that I dont always get with a porter.
Mouthfeel is moderate, but just about as smooth as one could get for a porter. Overall, a very solid porter that you can't go wrong with. Not as strong and flavorful as some of my favorite American Porters, but like I said, I can accept if for what it is.
