22 Ounce bomber, poured into a pint glass.

I am not beer expert but my first impression was that this was alot fruitier tasting than I expected from a maibock lager.

Appearance: Poured nice! Medium to dark amber color, with small creamy head.

Smell: Candy-like, you can defintely smell the sweet alcohol aroma. After the initial fruity smell, I could smell the malt.

Taste: Sweet alcohol taste, like the aroma. Fruity at first with a light malty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, acidic to the tongue, I thought it had a slightly heavy alcohol aftertaste.

Drinkability: I thought it was decent, I love this brewery, but it was not my favorite of theirs. I wouldn't get it again.

Had this on tap at The Publick House. It was a hazy orange color with a fairly good-sized white head that left plenty of lacing. Sweet, malty, breadlike aroma. The taste was very malty, with a bit of sweetness. A little heavy in the mouth, but a good beer to drink.

750ml bomber bottle.

Pours a dark amber, hazy brew with a thin white foam lace. Malty, estery, fruity aroma with hints of sulfur.

Huge malt character, and quite sweet with a dextrin backbone. Juicy, big. Notes of caramel and candy hang about a fruity , toasty and big bready character. Notes of ripe melon. Light hop flavours lend a bit of spice to the flavour and help to just balance things out. The spice also comes from an ample alcohol kick. Slight touch of oxidation (wet paper). Malty finish, a bit coarse around the edges of the palate.

A damn fine brew. Malt is a bit over the top for the style, but for me it's just fine.

An under-represented style. Malty, sweet, syrupy, slightly boozy...but oh so drinkable.

Biscuit taste & smell up front, then washed away by sweet malt. Each sip leaves you wanting the next. This beer is different than any beer I drink during the year - in a good way without being geeky.

This has become my favorite BBC seasonal. At $3.40 per bomber at my fave packy, a steal.

$3.45 @ Charles Street Liquors, Boston, MA:

Presentation: 22 oz brown bomber style bottle with “purchase before month notched” marked properly. Two brewers on the label holding their mugs proudly next to a goat.

Appearance: Clear deep copper color with a close cropping white lace of tiny dense bubbles. Very nice stickage.

Smell: Malty sweet with a candy-like taffy nose from a sweet alcohol aroma, slight juicy fruit and peppery hop in the smell also.

Taste: Brawny back bone of a body … thick, smooth and creamy mouth feel. Carbonation is at a moderate level, huge malt character rushes upon the palate with flashes of fruit and toasted malt, milled grain and fresh cut hay. Hops struggle to be noticed at first though they sneak in the back door with the warming prickly alcohol, that oddly doubles as a sweetness, to bring forth a bitterness and slight spiciness at the same time. Vague fruitiness bursts middle to end. Even some hop oil sneaks in towards the end. The finish does not want to come and seems like it never will in this ever lasting malty grainy after taste.

Notes: Malty, malty and malty. For a brewery that specializes in ales they sure know how to go around and make a down right kick ass lager. Three cheers for Berkshire to have the audacity to brew an awesome Maibock.

Bomber bottle, with area on the label for dating indication notches, but no notches, alas, are present..pours typical light almond amber, tan, thick, tiny bubble head and leaving moderate scattered lacing, bold astrigent hoppy nose, notes of sharp sweet malts, clean, crisp and dry in the finish. Typical well crafted brew from BBC, seems all their many beer are solid and well worth a try.

Golden colored and a bit cloudy. Small white head forms, dissipates pretty quickly.

Bright floral aromas. Sweet and hoppy. Pleasant and welcoming.

Tastes of orange rinds or some other similar citrusy flavor. Pretty nice but the sweetness is overpowering for me.

Initially it's crisp, but it becomes syrupy and sticky. Mouthfeel is the biggest turnoff for me.

Overall it's not bad, but is nothing to write home about.

Deep copper with a tight white head, strong fruity aroma reminiscent of sweetbread and strawberries. Huge malty taste, bready, crackery, incredibly sweet. Large kick of alcohol right from the get-go, but it is kept in check (mostly) by the syrupy, delicious malts. Elements of honey and honeydew melon as the flavor deepens. A fresh crackle is common to BBC's beers, and certainly part of the profile here, but any trace of hops is scarcely noticeable. Rich, luscious, and strong; almost like a barleywine without the hops.

Light honey/faded apricot color with a three-fingered had of white finely bubbled foam.

Aroma of caramel, toffee, brown sugar graininess, some floral hops.

Flavor is caramel upfront, doughey malt, some offsetting bitterness with notes of pine sap. Slight metallic finish, and burnt leaves tangy linger, plus some alcohol warmth, leaves it a little rough around the edges.

Firm mouthfeel, rich and round. Decent drinkability, but the roughness detracts.

A great Malty brew from my favorite brewery

A- nice dark copper with nice white lacing and small bubbles, very sticky lacing

S- sweet candy and alcohol, some tropical fruit scent in the nose as well

T- malt with a touch of sweetness, clean refreshing finish

M- a bit lighter than I expected, but balanced

D- a nice easy drinking brew with lots of malty goodness

yet another great brew from the BBC. This brewery is one of the most underated out there.

APPEARANCE: Pours the color of dark honey, but very clear. Very light, sand-colored head. Clean looking beer. Very nice!

SMELL: Rich malty fruits and toffee. There's a hint of pepper, too. Smells as clean as it looks.

MOUTHFEEL: Thin-bodied smooth smooth. A little too sticky for my taste. It would have a better mouthfeel if it had more carbonation and bite.

TASTE: Big toasted malts hit the palate first. This is a very bready beer with a hint of spice on the opening taste. The middle and end notes toss in a lot fruitiness and perhaps a bit of caramel. It's a good beer, but a bit run-of-the-mill.

DRINKABILITY: This is a nondescript, agreeable beer. I wouldn't seek this out, but I'd be quite alright if this was the only thing available to drink.

VERDICT: Good, but not anything to get excited about.

2011 Spring Release- Just came in-store today here in Western Mass at my local package store. 22 oz. Bottle is the serving.

Appearance- Holding a Maglite up to it for maximum clarity, I see a cloudy pale amber with straw accents. Good 2 finger head from an aggressive pour. Lacing on the glass from the diminished head is very thick and coating, much like their Oktoberfest offering.

Smell- Biscuity malt, boozy fruit, slight citrus undertone from the hops that I believe are hiding somewhere beneath the behemoth wall of malt in my face.

Taste- Wow. This lager is different! I'm not into bock/lagers that much, but this is good. Very thick and oily for a maibock, I taste a lot of malty goodness, ripe fruits, and lots of sweetness in the finish with a touch of lingering hops. This is a really sweet bock. Alcohol isn't very detectable in the finish. This is a strange concoction of complexities for a Maibock I can't quite describe.

Mouthfeel- Thick and creamy at first but washes away clean. Unlike most of those mass produced bocks/lagers. I think this beer has the PERFECT consistency for what it is.

Drinkability- I could definitely see myself sessioning this in big old steins while I watch the grass grow with my buddies. Try it out if you get a chance. It's a good BBC seasonal (like most of their seasonals.)

Glowing copper color with a big soapy soft off-white head. Spots of lace run down the sides of the glass and a good 1/8 inch layer of retention. The layer eventually fades completely leaving a little white ring. Aroma is malty and sweet with mellow fruit and a bit of lemon pepper spice. Fruits range from berries to peaches and apricots and the alcohol becomes increasingly evident as the glass empties. Taste is full of toasty malt, alcohol, and mixed fruit. The very relaxed carbonation goes well with the calming mix of tastes. Mouthfeel is creamy and smooth and overall drinkability is good.

Pretty packed with malt and quite enjoyable. Maybe the alcohol is a little too big a part of the smell and taste, but otherwise a well done lager.

Golden amber color, lively with a 1" sea foamy like head. nice look.

Very zesty, minty and floral hop, yeast is minty with a meaty, herbal tea and musty spices.

A tangy, zesty yeast flavor, all spice, must and dry herbs, minty-zesty hops with a medium bodied, dry feel, zippy, slightly hot and or "boozy". A very interesting and strange zesty flavor overall. The malt is unique with soft sweetness and slightly smokey and herbal.

There's a lot going on, maybe too much in too many different directions, but well worth a go!

Man, oh man, is this one malty gem! Quite often the Maibock style is under-done, leaving it a bit thin with not enough malt and too much bitterness, hop flavor, or alcohol. The other side of the coin is that they're more often over-done, leaving them flabby and cloying, but still with a hit of alcohol. Not this baby! It's rich and clean, gently candyish and subtly toasty/grainy malt sweetness is evident in the nose (some Vienna malt is obvious), and more prominent in the flavor. There's a light touch of fruitiness in both the aroma and flavor, and a suggestion of alcohol as well, but overall it's remarkably well-balanced. Some mild, spicy and floral hops are present in the flavor as well, but they definitely play a supporting role. The alcohol is noticeable, but reigned in; and the bitterness is just enough to keep everything in line.

Poured from a 22 oz capped bottle into a pilsener- had this last night and enjoyed it so much I bought it again to review. Pours a slightly hazy golden color edging on copper with a one finger head that leaves a layer of foam and some nice lacing.

Smell is mild- sweet malt and noble hops are well balanced and there's a little yeast thrown in the mix.

Tastes great- big pale malt sweetness throughout; definitely get a little banana. Noble hop bitterness in the mid-palate with a twinge of warming booze at the end. Maybe a hint of green grape.

Mouthfeel is nice- not superbly refreshing but enough. Medium light body with moderate prickly carbonation. Love it.

Pours a slight hazy copper, nice creamy head with good retention. Smells very floral, apple blossoms, soft melon, touch of spice, black pepper perhaps? Tastes of prominent earthiness before malt sweetness hits. Slight yeasty sweetness and soft bitterness leads to a doughy sweet finish where the grassy and earthy hops fade. Carbonation was solid with a good crispness.

One of Berkshires better beers, imho, which says a lot considering the quality of beer they make. Lots of those clean, soft lager malt flavors. There is a nice subtle spice component that i think comes from the yeast, adding more complexity.

Spring uh, not in Western Mass. 20 degrees and looking at a lot of snow soon. When living in an environment such as this you gotta take glimpses of hope any chance you get. And today's glimpse happens to be MAIBOCK day!

The BBC has once again provided me with an exceptional beer. Bomber, notched with an early fall consumption date. Anyhow, here we go.

App. gold/caramel, tequila colored, not too much of a head.

Smell. fragrant, smokey.

Taste. butterscotch and apple

Mouthfeel. fizzy, it lets you know spring is almost here (see above).

Drinkability. fantastic, this is the most fun I have had typing a review.

Excellent beer.
