Had this one on tap at the Wonderbar in "Woostah."
This golden-yellowish beer is quite cloudy. Oddly, considering the name, it looks something like a wheat beer, albeit one with a rather thin head. Smells of malt and wheat, with some fruity notes and some additional funky aromas (boiled eggs?). The flavor is bready, biscuity with a nice malt backbone and just a touch of hop bitterness. Steel Rail is a rather odd example of a Pale Ale, and it is not one of BBC's best offerings. (By contrast, as far as Ales go, their "Traditional Pale Ale" and "Lost Sailor IPA" are, in my view, some of the best beers produced in the northeastern U.S.) But, despite the strange notes in the nose, Steel Rail also not a bad brew -- I enjoyed a second one when my plate of pasta arrived. It's a beer I would enjoy more as a cold offering at a summer picnic.

Cloudy yellow color with white head which quickly dissipates
Smell is mild and unrevealing
Taste is very malty with a touch of hops at the end, refreshing
Mouthfeel is smooth and light
Overall, a cold one on a hot day, goes down real easy, and a 5.3% you can pour a few down
