BB march 2007. Nice appearance with good head leaving laces and copper collored beer. Nose is very fruity and sweet having lots of honey and anis, sweet gale, koreander next to a good caramellic maltyness. Taste is very sweet, lots of honey with caramellic backing and overal very fresh and flowery. Delicate brew with sweetflowery and low bittered aftertaste. Sticky mouthfeel and good carbonisation( not to high) make this one very plesant in the mouth. Well drinkable but IMO litle sweet and wouldn't mind some good flowery hops in it.

Bottle from Jason, 33cl into a tulip. Hauled back from Belgium, best before February 2015.

Orangey-brown body, off-white head. Light retention and a smidgen of lacing. Nose has sweet and dark breads, butty oils, peripheral dark fruits and some obscure spicing. Taste is bready, some citrus, nutty, obscure malt character and some spicing that isn't at all appealing. Quite weird all around. Medium feel and medium carbonation, an interesting/weird beer, but I wouldn't reach for this again.

Appearance - Golden orange color, medium head, didn't last very long

Smell - smells of oranges, flowers, citrus, Belgian yeast

Taste - citrus, candy, yeast, flavors did not last very long, lacking the warmth of most tripels

Mouthfeel - full body, good carbonation

Drinkability - easy to drink for a tripel, the alcohol is very subdued, somewhat refreshing, the 8% alcohol might sneak up on you on this one

Overall I thought the it was lacking in flavor. Flavor comes and goes very fast with this beer and I felt like it left me with nothing after the first hit. Not bad but I wouldn't get again.

Received from the ever generous trader Brewbacca nearly two years ago. Cellared in good conditions since then. Cork and caged 750 ML bottle with an icon of an old village on the label. 8% abv Belgian Amber Ale.

Cork releases with a thunderous pop. Beer pours with a cloudy and well carbonated amber body with a thick, creamy off white head. Flecks of yeast float throughout the body.

Aroma is soft and inviting with a light fruitiness of wild strawberries, creamy butter, vanilla, a touch of white grape, and a mild damp graininess. Finish is well bittered with grassy hops and lemon-ginger spice. The body appears creamy but finishes dry and spritzy on the tongue. No hint of the 8% abv. Devastatingly drinkable.

A rare treat that I really enjoyed sharing with some great BAs and beer drinkers at Lord Terry’s place last night. I hope to see this imported some day so that I can try it again. If you see this beer, definitely grab it. It’s exceptional, mostly because it’s so approachable, soft, and balanced but not without some complexity.

Orange-amber color. Lively carbonation, good head, not too white.
Floral smell, camomile, white flowers. Maybe points of anise, and something balsamic. Very fresh.
In the taste, too. Flora, freshness. Camomile again, and light balsamic notes.
Thirst-quenching, the alcohol is well hidden. Not bad.
In the aftertaste again the same fresh notes, and some honey.

07/11/06- Received as part of a beer tasting host gift earlier this year.

Presentation- 750ml bottle, caged and corked. Freshness date nothced on the side of the label. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

Appearance- Golden colored with a bit of a orange hue due to the yeast dumped in at the end. Tiny floaties abound. Full creamy inch head, subsides to a light thick rim. Lacing is above average.

Smell- Very nice scent. Lots going on here. First sniff gives me a very vinous scent. Maybe some kind of sweet wine like a Johanisberg Reisling, Guewertztrmiener or a Canadian Ice Wine. Vanilla and ginger notes come into play as well.

Taste- A mixture of many things in the flavor as well. Really not as sweet as the smell suggests. A light honey and tea like taste with ginger in the background is what I mainly get. Some corriander and light spices combine as well. Very light cardboard infusion? Something very slightly off, but I can still pick it up...not really enough to complain about though.

Mouthfeel- Smooth, somewhat creamy, lighter carbonation level. Medium mouthfeel.

Drinkability- Doesn't have quite the sweetness or powerful flavors as some of the others from this style that I really like. Still, very drinkable and definitely enough flavor to keep me interested. Don't think I will be having it again though since it was ordered directly from Belgium.

beer is presented in a 11.2 oz bottle with medieval landscape painting on the label. pours a brilliant and effervescent iced tea orange with a silky, flat head of creamy foam. splotchy patterns form with the release of carbonation. sheet-like lacing. as this warms, the aroma becomes intensely appealing.. big candi sugar followed by a spectacular array of fruitiness. banana creme pie, apples and pears soaked in lemon juice, fresh strawberries.. a nice rounding aroma of a buttery vanilla. heavenly. as expected, this beer explodes with flavor. the diacetyl takes the lead, with a crisp berry and light hoppiness following. big sweet lemon compliments the earthiness of this beer nicely. slightly warm, definitely not hot. finishes crisp.. maybe a bit too much carbonation, but smooth otherwise and bears a nice grassy tart finish. overall, a taste sensation and a beer worth seeking out, if for no other reason than to just sit around and smell it all day.
