Drank fresh and local on 1/12/14.

A: Poured from a day-old, freshly-popped growler into a goblet. A finger-and-a-half of bubbly white head quickly dissipates into a resonant ring around the edge of the glass. Some lacing. Amber color of a filtered IPA, almost but not quite see-through. Very inviting.

S: Powerful hops on the nose becoming a bit less pronounced as the beer opens up. Hint of malty dryness, much citrus all throughout, probably grapefruit. A faint grassiness, ending again in resiny hops. A nice, round scent on this IPA.

T: Taste follows the nose nicely. Lots of hops and citrus with an astringent sweetness that lingers. Little malt or alcohol to be found, which is impressive in a 7.2%. Pine enters the mix during the swallow, and a thick, almost smokey resin finish that hangs in the back of the throat.

M: A bit watery for my tastes but to be fair it's very refreshing, and almost too drinkable. I should mention I watched the guy fill my growler and he seemed to know his way around a tap, but something about the carbonation made me nervous that it was a little flat after a day in the growler. Had a nice pop when I opened it but nothing resounding; I'll have to follow up when they start bottling. Anyway, very sticky, resiny mouth that really hangs out throughout the sip. Not a deal-breaker by any means.

O: Quite the IPA out of a new Miami brewery! I attend University of Miami and I'm from New York, so fair to say I'm not exposed to the most ground-breaking local brews. However, I'm very proud to be a part of this one, and will certainly be returning to it. If you're local, get down to Wynwood and try this, the atmosphere is great in their new taproom, and would probably taste better there than in my living room.

Appearance: Arrives with a cloudy ice tea color; not the most attractive looking IPA though it did have a nice head that left a copious amount of lacing behind

Smell: Caramel and pine tones; slightly grassy

Taste: Caramel and pine, up front, with grassy tones developing; after the swallow, the flavors grow increasingly bitter and resinous

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The brewery got the bitterness right but I didn't get the more delicate flavors I look for in an IPA these days; it just smacks you without any of the enticement

This is a good beer. It is coming out of a growing beer scene in Miami. It has a nice color with a good nose. It taste really good and is very palatable. I recommend checking it out. It is popping up at a bunch of bars around the South Florida area and of course at the brewery itself in Wynwood.
