Bottle from 2016
A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a black beer topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light tan head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of sour cherries and dark fruits with a lot of wine barrel. Definite oak and funk going on as well.
T: Taste is sour cherries and currants with some roasted malts, and cocoa powder, strong sourness throughout but also some of that oak wine barrel and funk. On the swallow there's more sour cherries, cocoa powder, currants, roasted malt and lingering oak.
M: The beer is fairly light in body but it is not watery. Carbonation is slightly effervescent without being prickly while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this beer is really good. It's definitely sour and it may be a bit much for some people as it does detract from everything else going on at times. That being said the beer still has a really nice amount of complexity and some really great flavors going on. Worth a try.

Dark ruby to the point of it looking brown unless held up to light, no head. Smells of oak, lacto, brett, with the acidic and sour fruits: plum, cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. Taste is all of that but stupid acidic and tart, through in rhubarb and dark chocolate too. The problem is the acidity does not allow the flavors to linger on the palate. Feel is super acidic, tart, sour, and dark. Just too acidic to really enjoy its full potential

Pours a very dark reddish brown color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is very good. Has a tart cherry and oak aroma. Taste is the same, but there is more oak than cherry. Would like to have it the other way around, but it is still a good beer. Medium bodied with moderate to heavy carbonation.
