On-tap at the brewery. Served in a tulip. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a light golden or deep straw color with a very soft, delicate, light tan film. A fine sheet of lace was left down the glass.
S: Ginger really shines and dominates. There's also a lightly tart scent, and a hint of golden fruits and earthy, buttery, oak.
T: Really really interesting and unique golden sour profile with a kiss of sweet and spicy ginger. The golden base is light and flavored with stone fruits and earthy straw, and it is slightly sweet. This is balanced well with a sharp tart bite and tingly ginger root herbalness. Oak tannins and ginger cling to my throat after I swallow. Ginger lingers a long with some faint buttery oak.
M: Very dry mouth, dry from the oak and dry and crisp from the ginger. Fizzy carbonation froths up on the palate and is soda-like but much softer. Very scrubbing and refreshing. Like a tart, less sweet, deeper, richer, and more complex fresh ginger ale. Super dry, needed water to drink.
O: Never had another beer like this. Ginger is bright and flavorful but not overpowering. Very balanced and complex. Extremely well executed. Very airy, tart, dry, crisp, and refreshing mouthfeel.

A little surprised at how much I liked this one. Not artificial ginger flavored at all, just real ginger root. Definitely only needed a small serving but another solid beer from RB.

The nose smelled vaguely sweet and vaguely sour with a blend of honey, vinegar and ginger, and the palate confirmed this. Excessively sweet with a poor sourness, vinegary and lactic, thoroughly unpleasant.

A: Clear golden yellow, ample loose bubbles, white head with webs of lacing.

S: Heavy on the ginger, some lighter tropical and citrus fruits behind it.

T: Lots of ginger, mildly spicy, more as a mainstay of flavor than as a supporting role. The fruit/sour characters definitely take a back seat. I'd like to see this dynamic reversed, but as it is it's refreshing and enjoyable.

M: Slightly syrupy, with a sharp acidity, but nothing it too heavy.

O: Ginger steals the show, with the sour/beer notes taking a (far) back seat, but they are still present in a style that is difficult to do right. If they just tone the ginger back a few notches it would be a seriously amazing sour.

Delicious. Ginger is not overwhelming. Perfectly balanced between sour and ginger flavor.

this is a blonde sour in oak with ginger, and the ginger root here is a great addition. it adds earth and spice to an already enormously flavorful sour beer. the oak can barley mellow the heat of the ginger, and although its not overly intense going down, it can definitely be felt. the ginger is strong in the nose too, but mixes sort of weirdly with the lacto sourness. its like two alpha flavors and feels that are at a standoff, not really fighting, but not really jiving either. it makes for a less integrated beer than some of their others, and also a dichotomous mouthfeel, where it gores from ginger burn to lactic acidity in the finish. the flavors are nice though, the recipe is solid, and more than one glass im sure i would love it, but it seems less perfected in the context of the other rare barrel stuff. it also isnt as brightly carbonated as the others, which hurts it a little, but i think its a great use of ginger, i cant recall any other ginger sours.

Very clear. Spices (ginger, coriander) in the smell. Super gingery taste. Dry as a dried bone. Original but not amazing. Niche.
