A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly hazy golden orange which is topped by a dense and rocky two finger white head which fades a little quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of pale malts with some sour citrus notes, rose hips, a little orange and a touch of oak
T: Taste is a pleasant sourness with some rose hips and orange with some hints of cracker like malt along with a touch of oak. On the swallow there's an almost orange marmalade like quality to this with a real nice balance between sweet and sour. A pleasant oakyness comes in at the back end with some more rose hips.
M: This beer has a body which sits at a nice medium while being fairly neutral on the palate. Carbonation is effervescent and just slightly prickly while the beer has a drying finsh due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is an excellent offering from The Rare Barrel. Great flavors and a killer amount of complexity make this one a real pleasure to drink. Well worth a try if you can find it.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leather, musty/lacto funk, white wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness; light fruit tang, and yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, cranberry, strawberry, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, rose, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, bread, pepper, light leather/funk/vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness balance. Lightly increasing pucker through the glass, but not overwhelming. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and oak tannins. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy/acidic, and fairly crisp/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour ale. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, rose hips, orange peel, oak, and pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on; despite the increasingly puckering/acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Outstanding balance of Brett/Bacteria complexity, rose hips, orange peel, and oak barrels; with solid pale/wheat malts against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and well made sour as expected.

Another beer from the Rare Barrel, Bruery and Societe event that occurred at Rare Barrel. Basically Rare Barrel's beers strt as either a blonde or dark base, this one started blonde. The color variations from there seem dependent on the fruits used. Here, we have orange peel and rose hips. Hey hey, I like Rosario hips :) Anyways this one comes in that slightly light amber color from the rose hips and orange peel darkening the srm up. Thin 1/5" white head with almost no retention despite plenty of obvious carbonation going on. The aroma is the usual lemon sourness with a hint of more sweet citrus (the orange I suspect).

The taste is the usual 7 on a 10 pt scale sour wise, good amount of acidity to it. Light body, the rose hips/petals are noticeable and give kind of a saison aspect to the beer. Oak is mild. Mouth feel is plenty dry and light. I think the best thing about this beer is the rose, breaks it out from the usual similar feel of most of the RB beers.

Edit: I had this beer (2016) out the bottle in April '21 and I don't think I need to adjust the scores at all. Samesies.

Hazy golden color. Aroma has tart stonefruits, light acetic notes and some meadow flowers. Taste is quite sour, really dry and astringent, fruity, floral with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Light body with medium plus carbonation. Quite nice overall, sour and really dry.

Light copper to copper colored with a mere fingernail of off white, but there's plenty of vibrant carbonation bubbles erupting from within. The first pour was clear, but it gets cloudier with additional pours. I smell oak, Brettanomyces, tart green apple, and pear. I'm tasting plenty of sour Brettanomyces tempered with some woodsy oak. The orange peel adds some bitterness to the sourness at the back of the palate. There's plenty of carbonation and the mouth is otherwise very dry and crisp.
