Visited with my wife on a recent trip to San Diego and Los Angeles.

Tried the following:
Ballast Point California Kölsch (draft)
Ballast Point Fathom IPA (sample)
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter (draft)
Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin IPA (sample)

Beers ranged from decent to very good. Also ordered some grilled fish tacos that were quite satisfying. Service was strong as our food and drinks arrived promptly and the bartender was happy to take a picture of us (much appreciated!). Bustling, vibrant atmosphere in the taproom. They seem to attract a younger crowd. Our overall experience was enjoyable, and we would likely come back.

The beer list is extraordinarily impressive. There are over 50 taps of different beers from the Ballast brewery. There are nine Oktoberfest beers and 12 barrel aged beers.

The service is fast with many beer keepers covering many customers. Just the replacement of glassware is non stop. Everyone's friendly so it doesn't feel like a factory. But it's an active place with lots of high energy.

Nice building in a beautiful area of San Diego. There is a long bar rail and probably over 40 ballast point beers on tap to choose from. Classic spot is still worth a visit.

Place was slammed on a Friday night and took forever to get a beer, but their selection and quality is good. Would like to check out sometime at a less crowded time during the day.

Also got a BA Victory At Sea bottle in the merch store to go which is awesome.

Visited earlier today after a day of roaming the San Diego Safari Park with Da Boss.

Vibe was good for a Tuesday mid-afternoon with the crowd primarily being either skaters or tourists. Could see this would be a happening place in the evening. Large establishment with indoor/outdoor seating i would guesstimate at a 200 person capacity.

Quality of the brews were good...it is Ballast Point!

Service was very good by the young dude taking orders at the bar (self serve bar). Food came out in good time and order. Very nice bunch of kids working there.

Selection must have been at least 30 maybe 40 taps of all BP product.

Food was very good as Da Boss enjoyed her BP Burger and i had the Bruchetta sandwich which was very good.

Definitely stop in if you are staying in downtown San Diego...you will not be disappointed.

While beer is not actually brewed on-site, this is a tasting room-restaurant located in Little Italy: the venue is a large room with plenty of space to eat, drink and schmooze. The large L-shape bar is the center here; above the bar is the currently changing draft listing of delicious (30+) Ballast Point brews. Of the many breweries in San Diego, I consider BP one of the best. There is food available, but no table service (it can be ordered at the bar, however.)
Great service, excellent grub and some superlative beer (at decent prices) in a fun atmosphere makes BP a must stop for anyone on a San Diego beercation. I recommend the following beers: Piper Down Scottish Ale, Black Martin Porter, Double Dorado IPA and a wonderful stout that goes by the name of The Commodore.

Lucked into a visit on Victory at Sea day at this Little Italy location. It was a true treat.

Tons of variants on tap and a nice price for some tasters, a bottle to go and a collector's goblet.

I was pleased with the food, especially the poke and the duck nachos, although the price pushes the boundaries a bit.

It's nice that Bottlecraft is close by so one can hit both in one visit.

Tough venue for a bachelor party (too many guys who didn't know each other and too loud for easy conversation). Food is just average bar fare at higher prices. That said, fantastic beer selection and good service. Would work much better for 2-4 people at a single table, at the bar, or in the cozy lounge seating in the back. I will definitely be back on my next San Diego visit.

Came here during San Diego Beer week. Incredible offerings and some experimental taps. I had the Red velvet cake (beet & chocolate stout) plus Ginger Big Eye IPA. Food was also top notch. Easily a highlight of any trip to the area.

If you are near the San Diego airport and have some time to kill, this is a great spot to go. Its roughly 2 miles from the rental car returns and there is another great place right across the street (Bottle Craft).

Its a fairly basic place, where you need to pick up your own food and beer from two separate counters, but the food is pretty good and the beer is very good :) .

There are quite a few taps with different selections from Ballast Point. Depending on season, you will find a different concentration of beer types. Prices are pretty reasonable and its definitely worth going to, as Ballast Point certainly knows what they are doing with beers.
