Pours a deep tawny brown with a creamy light tan colored one finger head atop.Vanilla stands out most in the nose with some caramel as well, not much roast and or drying notes.Sweet but not quite cloying on the palate with a somewhat slick feel. Not bad, more of a dessert kinda beer.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a dark brown color with a towering three finger dark tan head that eventually settles to a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of surface foam.

S- Hard to find much of anything through all this foam but what's there is some toasted malt and light vanilla.

T- No vanilla, no malt. Just intense carbonation flavor (it's called carbonic acid right?) that makes the alcohol burn more than it should.

M- Incredibly spritzy from the intensely high carbonation and a body leaning toward the fuller side.

O- I don't know if this is a product of infection, bottle conditioning or what, but this is no longer a vanilla porter. It reminds me of homebrew gone wrong. Total fail. It wasn't a gusher immediately upon opening the bottle but, once it sat for a few minutes, foam made its way up and out of the bottle and made a mess. I'm pissed I wasted my hard-earned money on this crap. Nearly undrinkable.

Growler from Bestway in Greensboro, NC

A: Pours a clear almost opaque very dark brown in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some reddish brown highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy beige head that reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of vanilla with a light amount of something slightly artificial and a hint of roasted malts.

T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of very lightly roasted malts with some moderate flavors of artificial vanilla extract.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.

O: This beer sounds really great in description but unfortunately the vanilla tastes artificial and hints of iodine make this one a little less enjoyable than it could have been. Not sure I would grab another one of these but glad that I was able to check out this newer brewery.

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a dark, brown to black coloring with a thin, light tan ring of head. Nose of rich vanilla, subtle booze, and chocolate. Smooth and balanced. Flavors are vanilla forward, with a healthy chocolate backbone. Very sweet and smooth. Light, creamy body. The aftertaste is a vanilla and chocolate blend, with a smooth, clean finish. Great beer.
