Went here with my wife afternoon on 4/3/14 after driving in from Auckland after a flight from Vancouver we were tired to say the least even after a nap. A bright sunny day with a few people outside but my wife and I were happy to have the whole inside to ourselves. You can tell the servers don't work for tips in NZ, they're friendly enough but you often need to go to the bar to order a drink, the norm I suppose here but different to Canada. Croucher on tap as expected in their brew pub, had some Anzus IPA and it was great, wife had some cider that was also good. A few other local bottles and taps but we were a little tired to get deep into the beer list but looked like some interesting choices. They screwed up my wife's order and we didn't even mention it because it was so unbelievably good. She had a rib-eye and I had a lamb shoulder and both were perfect, the mussels we had to start may have been the best I've had and I've had my fair share of mussels. I can't think of anything I'd change about our meal, it was one of the better meals I've had in a while. Nothing really sets this place apart except the food, its a normal bar with a decent tap list and an amazing menu for a brew pub. I could imagine it gets quite busy but I liked it empty as my wife and I were both brain dead and jet legged. At the end of the day this is probably the best beer place for miles and I'd recommend it when in Rotarua.
