32oz grumbler pour into a snifter. Filled 3hrs ago.
A: Pours a mostly clear golden amber with a decent off white head sitting on top. Nice lacing on the sides of the glass as the head slowly dissipates. Not very much visible carbonation.
S: Farmhouse hop aroma is the first thing I think of when I smell this beer. A grassy bitterness mixes with a solid yeast base. Pale malts add a bit of balance to the mix. More of a fruitiness comes out of the hops as it warms up.
T: As with the aroma there is a nice mix of yeast and hops in the beer. A nice floral, grassy and earthy quality from the hop blends nicely with a bit of spiciness from the yeast. Alcohol comes through a bit on the backend.
M: Medium to full body with a nice creaminess. Mild carbonation with a fairly dry finish. A bit of a nectar like mouthfeel to it which I appreciate in IPA's.
Overall I am diggin the farmhouse characteristics in this beer but it needs a bit more of that hop flavor to really push it into the double IPA category.

On tap at Donnelly's Public House in Fairport, NY.
A really nice, hoppy IPA/saison combo we have here. It pours a shimmering, clear amber, with a billowing, 2 inch head. Nice lacing.
Smells and tastes very similar- like a great farmhouse ale- slight funk, Belgian yeast, cloves, plus dynamite hop flavors of pine, grassiness, and herbs. Very little malt, maybe slightly biscuity. Could be slighlty hoppier, maybe, but I don't think they were going for a hop bomb here. The hop flavors that are present are very nice, anyway.
Clean mouthfeel, pretty dry, medium body. Drinkable.
I love what Abandon is doing out of their barn in Penn Yan. With work, they could be the next big thing.

Poured a hazy copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light resinous pine and a round caramel.
The taste offered the same light resins with a soft earthy sweetness and moderate esters.
The mouthfeel was toward the cleaner side of the style.
Overall a tasty farmhouse inspired DIPA.
