't Arendsnest was one of our favorite beer places in Amsterdam.
The bar is long with tables on one side, with a large round table in front. On the day my wife and I visited, some American beer guys were enjoying many beers at the front table. Their conversation was great and I soon realized I know nothing about beer (as my wife pointed out).
I wanted to go here especially since they only serve Dutch beer. I had a Christoffel Bok and a lovely 2006 LaTrappe Quadrupel. Many may disagree, but LaTrappe is turning into one of my favorite Trappist Breweries.
A young gentlemen was bartending when we were there and he was cordial, knowledgeable, and right on with his pours and glasswear.
Not to be missed when visiting Amsterdam.

This beer bar right on the canal is comfy cozy bar, furnished with deep rich wood. The brewery has a deep selection of Dutch beers. As an American, it's a little tough to navigate the list knowing none of the breweries, but it is good to get a taste of local fare. The entire list is on Untappd too so that is also great. Food wise, it is a meat and cheese plate affair so it's a little limited. Overall, really like this bar.

This is a very odd place - it clearly prides itself on having Dutch roots as all the beer/cheese is from the Netherlands. And as far as Amsterdam pubs go it's at the top of the list (the bar isn't that high here pardon the numerous puns). But maybe it's a sign of the times post Trumps victory and the unease Europe feels towards America (I didn't vote Trump but never mind that!) the service very clearly sent a message that American esque visitors are less than welcome- case in point less you think this is some sort of paranoia: my wife (Canadian and like me fairly humble and respectful) actually WAVED her arms in the face of a few often barstaff and they actually pretended to not notice. Now, a few things to make clear - we were at the bar for many rounds, were polite, patient and respectful of the clear policy that "you will be served when the staff is good and ready to serve you", but it was taken to such an extreme that my mild mannered wife had to wave her arms madly in the face of staff who ignored her. It was beyond absurd and truly sent as message. Maybe enter wearing Canadian icons if you're from N.America but that prob makes no difference. Very sad experience as the beer is excellent as was it's care and presentation. Anyway we still love Amsterdam and especially great beer but this experience has no place in what once was a supposedly forward oriented town. As well I can guarantee the management of this pub could give a flying f&@k about reviews especially this one, so while that sure sounds pure and cool - it isn't. 2 cents y'all but it is very seldom I've been provoked to writing in this manner let alone related to some pub.

My wife & I loved this place, it would be my local if I lived here.
Located in a nice neighborhood right near a canal, this is an immaculately maintained bar. There is lots of warm wood, some cool latticed windows and brewery memorabilia on display.
There are a few outside tables as you approach the stairs to the entrance. Upon entry you are greeted by a gleaming wood bar with 51 tap handles. All the beers (tap & bottles) are from the Netherlands. Beer was in great shape and served in the correct glasses.
The service was friendly, was free with samples and suggested some other great places to try.
The food was very good. It mainly consists of cheeses and sausages, but what a selection! We had a smoked sausage & a dry sausage flavored with heather. We had four different cheeses (I think they offer more than dozen).
Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

They have a great selection of Dutch beers, only Dutch beers that you can not find many other places. Bar staff were very friendly and willing to help with making a choice. Looking forward to going back!!

A cracking pub with 30+ beers on tap & more bottles than I could count, all of the Dutch beers. The place also had a good seleciton of Jenevers as well, literally everything they sell is Dutch. Had a good few beers here and the majority were excellent, with plenty from De Molen, most of the La Trappe range and some good beers from Emelisse too. The price wasn't bad either, I got the tab at the end of the night fearing the worst but was happy to find most beer were around €3-4 with some of the stronger ones coming in at €6. An excellent pub that was quite busy on a Friday night but very friendly. The bar staff were also very pleasant, recommending various drinks and letting you try a few as well. A must visit.
