Sample #5 at the (Cigar City) brewpub 1/29/14

The blueberry makes for an interestingly look. The color is mauve, with a light pink-tinged head on top. The head is a soft, white one with a little too much structure to call it spritzy but little height. That height is well maintained, though, and above-average lace legs out a bit.
It's simple and straightforward while showing strength and more than reasonable depth, considering. Dryish malts certainly show the prominence of wheat. It doesn't have the dryness of snap of cracked wheat, more a softer base. Blueberry isn't either too strong or too subtle while smelling and tasting fresh.
The feel has an even balance of crisp and smooth in a light-medium sort of body.

Poured from the can into a long tulip glass.

Deep purple eggplant color, quite dark but not too much. Light pink head and thin retention with a nice thick collar ring. Some scattered lacing among the glass too.

Fruit forward with a spicy quality. Good blueberry juice senses and hintingthe at strawberrythe but not much else. No sense of wheat depth or dough like malt. Quite soft and nice aromas.

Good fruit tastes for the blueberry angle on first sip. Light bodied but not too fizzy. Missing some chewy depth quality but a great fruit body almost like crunching on seeds. Quite jammy tasting also, but definitely more fruit than malt going on here, and gets into fruit punch territory.

Overall its quite memorable but misses some of the wheat depth that I enjoy.

A: The beer is very hazy bluefish purple in color. It poured with a finger high purple head that died down, leaving specks of lacing on the surface.
S: Light aromas of wheat are present in the nose along with hints of berries. The berries seem to get a little stronger as the beer warms up.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of wheat along with notes of blueberries. The berry flavor seems to taste more like unripe blueberries or blueberry skins. No sweetness is perceptible.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: Unfortunately, the appearance is the best part of this beer and the smell and taste are lacking.

Acquired from Cuzco so a big “Thank You” goes out to him. Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep purple-amber color, with a thin pink head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains blueberries, wheat, light caramelized malts and a very faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with a tart burst of blueberry flavor that is followed by some breadiness from wheat and a hearty but not too heavy malt character. There’s a lot less sweetness than most blueberry beers. The hops presence is very mild but it brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly tart and slightly bready.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

O: A little tasty, goes down easily once you get used to the odd color, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, it’s a decent beer to drink if you want a blueberry without the typical sweetness.

Poured from a can to a stange glass; canned on 04/25/2014.

Pours a cloudy muddled purple/red body. Very fluffy soap bubble reddish head, dissipated fairly quick and left very little lacing in the glass.
Getting a grassy fruity aroma with a little of the wheat in there as well.
Taste up front is very light blueberry and just a hint of it at the end. Some hop bitterness is there as well.
Drinks very easy, as it should at 5%. Finishes like a fruit tea: a little sweet at first, but very clean and refreshing on the end.
Not a blow you away, knock your socks of beer, but I had to pick up a sixer while down here in Florida. Not a beer I would seek out again, but a really tasty beer for a hot day.

Brew Bus Brewing: You're My Boy Blue! Blueberry Wheat Ale

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Cigar City shaker pint glass. Served chilled.

A) A cloudy purplish looking brew with a pinkish purplish looking head. Maybe a finger which settled to a collar. No lacing...

S) Really not much to the nose here. Like a beer that's been sitting around with some blueberry preserves in it. Not offensive to the sense of smell.

T) I pick up more of the wheat in the flavor. Slightly herbal and grassy. A fair amount of blueberry. Not sweet at all. Okay aftertaste...

M) Light bodied with minimal carbonation. Feels a little flat to me.

O) Not a drain pour by any means, but if this was a kid, he or she would be getting picked close to last for the kickball team.
