Went here with some friends that live in the area. We went here because they sell single bottles and 4 and 6 packs which is a nice thing to find in PA. The downside in that the prices really should come with a healthy dollop on lube. The selection was insane especially considering this is a Deli. Tons of Founders, some Bells, good Belgian selection, as well as all the locals and other usual suspects. They did give me a small price break on a 4 pack of $6/bottle beers by giving one for free which eased the pain a bit. Unfortunately if you want a single bottle of beer in PA you have to pay these kind of insane prices. The best Deli I have ever also bought beer in for what that is worth.

I am finding it difficult to fathom these reviews, especially after reading reviews of some other places closer to my home -- places that are nowhere as good as Michael's, yet got much higher scores.

Maybe that is a reflection of tougher expectations in the Philly area.

The only negative I can agree with is that some of the beer is pretty pricey. But not really out of line with most other places where they sell singles intended for in-house consumption with a meal.

They probably need a better marketing plan, with a way to distinguish between takeout pricing for six-packs and perhaps bombers -- especially warm ones -- and in-house beers.

But aside from the prices of some of the beers, this place is outstanding. The beer selection is great. I have always been able to pick up stuff there that I cannot find in the Harrisburg area. I have seen other comments about freshness, but I have never bought anything out of date there.

The food is tremendous. The menu has a wide variety that makes it a family favorite since the kids and the grown-ups can each always find something they like.

Personally I am quite fond of their hoagies. And their cabbage soup is pretty damned good, too.

I always recommend this place to friends who go to King of Prussia shopping, etc., or who have other reason to be in the area (it is also our go-to stop on the way home from the shore).

Reading some of the recent reviews, I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this place. I must say I was pleasently surprised. The coolers included a good variety of micro's and imports, all available as singles, a rarity here in PA. There were beers on their website that were not here, but overall I was impressed. The store was clean and well kept, I did not try any of the food from the deli. The staff was friendly and helpful. As for the prices, before I started shopping I asked if their was a discount on mixed 6 packs. I was told that I could by 5 beers and get the 6th on free. Upon checking out the cashier just looked at my 2 six packs and said $15 each. The total of my 12 beers individually was $41.75. So overall the prices were about on par for PA, high by MD or DE standards. In closing I enjoyed shopping here and plan to come back.

I went here for lunch with my manager in early sept. The food is very tasty, I had a matzo ball soup and pastrami on rye. Love the pickle bar too but unfortunately I am not reviewing the food.

The beer is another story. The selection is ok but the prices are outrageous!!! They wanted $31 for a 12 pack of great lakes, $19 for a 4 pack of dfh 90 min and many, many $4-6 singles on hand of normally low prcied beer. I guess if you dont know prices this would be an ok stop for beer but I would NEVER pay for beer here. Mainly b/c I shop around and know how high the prices are here.

This place must think they're the only game in town. They've always had a decent selection, but yesterday, I was so disappointed that I walked out without ordering food or buying any beer.

Let's start with the coolers - they probably have 16 doors, but 3/4 of them were so full of condensation, that I couldn't even SEE what beers were behind them. When I opened one, there was a bad hand-written tag saying "Belgium" and then a random variety from throughout Europe and USA. Outside of the macros being in one cooler, there is no apparent organization to this place. It may have been organized by country at one time (which is simply not that helpful IMO), but not-so-much any longer.

There was no clearly marked pricing - some bottles have it, some don't. And while I'm on the topic of pricing - $17 FOR A SIX PACK OF ANCHOR STEAM?!? Really??? Many of the 12 oz bottles - even on PA beers - were $5 and $6... I haven't seen prices like this since I walked into Maia in Radnor last year.

They seem to have a decent food selection and I'm sure they wouldn't have stayed in business for so long if it weren't for good food. But I wouldn't know.

Service? My last 5 trips there have included no greeting, no "how can I help you", no conversation whatsoever, other than the price when it's rung up at the counter.

Thanks, but if I'm going to be gouged, I'd prefer to do so at a place with friendly people and a well-organized store.

Michaels Deli in King Of Prussia is one of the few places in the area to sell mix and match single bottles.
Prices average from $3.00-$6.00. Pretty standard for Pennsylvania considering their case laws and what not.
Michaels is a pretty good place for beer. they have decent selection and are priced pretty much the same as other places.

Service wasn't really great. I was in there for 20 minutes and no one said a word to me.
When checking out i asked the guy working if there was any kind of discount for buying a full mixed 6 pack and he said you get a dollar off. (big deal)

Overall it's not a bad place. Pretty good selection. Just be sure to check dates. I saw more then one bottle that was close to a year past it's best by date.

**Update**
I went to Michaels again only to find a lot more out of date stock then previous. I doubt i'll be going back.

This is a great spot to buy singles from and is in a very convenient to get in and out of and browse beers.

They have them arranged by country and by brewery which is nice. They have some out of date bottles so beware - I had Holy Sheet from Clipper City Brewing which was flat and had a date that was about 9 months past due. Usually those beers can hold up but this one was not good. I have had it before and know the difference.

Also the people that work there are not into beer at all and will not help you unless you are bleeding, maybe not even then.

They do give you a deal where you can buy 5 and get the 6th free. The prices are almost Main line bar prices $6.00 for Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Then some are like $3.75 Prima Pils for instance.

Good place to try various brews out.

I used to go here a lot because me and my buddies usually don't decide we want to drink until the distributors are closed.

Mostly sell 6- and 12-packs. There is a pretty big selection of single bottles as well as 40's. The selection isn't very vast, just a few coolers, but you can usually go in as late as midnight or 1am and they'll still sell you something. It's a deli too, so if you're hungry thats always a bonus.

Convenient if you're having a party and run out of booze late and need more, but not the greatest place to find the next big thing.
