Tastes great - everyone thinks it's a great IPA - flavorful without being bitter with a caramel middle and a piney finish. Yum!

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a massive head that displays excellent retention with clumps sticking to the pint glass

Smell: Northwest pine aromatics with caramel tones

Taste: The caramel backbone underpins from start to finish, with the piney hops emerging, in the middle, and dominating the back end

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: An old school Pacific NW IPA, rather dank and piney

My can of OTE read 6.4% ABV, not the 6.9% mentioned in the description, but no matter. This is definitely a West Coast IPA, and hoppier than a Brit IPA, too. I thought the hops were the star of the show in this beer, and the malt backbone was hardly noticeable. Pine and pineapple in the hop presence, especially on the palate, and maybe some stone fruit. Still, a good, refreshing hoppy IPA that should pair well with lots of spicy foods. I've visited the Charlotte brewery, and I've enjoyed a few of their products.

Undated 12 oz. can says that this is a Northwest India Pale Ale. Website says
Over the Edge takes a great balance of 5 grains and then ramps it up with West Coast hops that were born in the shadows of the cascades. We use these Hops in 7 different additions to create an adventure from the beginning of the sip all the way to the burp.

Right.

Amber color with one finger white head. Nice full lacing and a stubborn blanket of lacing.
Prominent pine, apricot, pineapple aromas
Pine, grapefruit pith, toffee, well balanced malt flavors.
Bitter start, flavors bloom across the tongue, persistent carbonation, medium body.
Well executed American IPA.

Bags of hoppy flavor, really liked it. Would be better still if it came in a bottle. Not a clear looking beer, had a wheat beer look to it.

A - hazy amber brown with sticky head rings after each sip.

S - floral, resin, citrus. Not a huge nose.

T - low to medium bodied - hops present, citrus, malt backbone.

O - easily quaffable - nice balance and not over powering. Left me wanting a bit more hops.
