12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Yes, it is black ... great suds on top. Soft roasted malt nose and flavor, very malty with a subtle bready yeasty tone. Modest hopping, very easy drinking. Very much a black lager. This is the lagers answer to the drinkable stout or easy drinking porter.

Have had this several times when I have been visiting in north Louisiana. I cannot wait for this beer to make it over to Texas. It is a great example of a Schwarzbier. I think I like this favor and complexity of this better than the Shiner Black. As mentioned in a previous review if you like stouts and porters, then this is your all night beer

This beer is a great example of the schwarzbier style. It is not a session beer, but it is lighter in body than the taste profile's depth/complexity would suggest. It is an excellent alternative to a stout or porter, particularly during the summer.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some roasted malts. Taste is light and mild, roasted malts, a hint of coffee. Feels light in the mouth and overall, while not a bad beer, it's not exactly going to overwhelm you with flavor, or otherwise.

Great Raft Reasonably Corrupt has an extremely thick, foamy, creamy, beige head, a dark brown appearance, and heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of cream, coffee (medium roast), mild chocolate, and brown bread crust. Taste is of sweetness, brown bread, some char, coffee, and a bit of chocolate. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Great Raft Reasonably Corrupt finishes crisp, clean, and refreshing.

A: pours a deep brown and is nearly black with a finger and a half of dense light tan head that retains well and leaves some lacing
S: smells of roasted malts and a little bit of fruitiness. some chocolate and coffee as well
T: taste is a little nutty with some roasty malt flavors and coffee. swallow is more roasted malt and coffee with a little bit of cocoa powder.
M: light but not too light with soft carbonation and a slightly dry finish
O: This is a well made beer with good flavors and decent complexity. It isn't bad but I feel that htere are better representatives of the style.

Poured from a fresh growler into a pint.

A: Black. Pours a 1 finger, tight, foamy, brown head. Settles fairly slowly, leaving a thick blanket of foam on the surface, a thick beer ring, and some residue. Spotty lacing, mostly retreats into the body of the brew.

S: Roasted coffee, a little dark chocolate, black licorice, and oak.

T: Lightly bitter roasted coffee beans, a bit of unsweetened bitter dark chocolate, with a nice oaky flavor, a touch of licorice, and a bit of peat.

M: Thick and hearty. A bit smoky. Bitter finish.

D: Not quite sessionable. More of a sipping brew.

Atmosphere is really nice. Tight head, and some fair lacing. Nose is char roasted coffee with chocolate, licorice, and oak accentuates. Bitter coffee stands out, bitter chocolate, licorice, and pungent peat. Overall, this is a good quaff.

L-Black with a tan small tan head that fades, and a red tint when held up to the light
S-roasted aroma that has hints of chocolate and a bread smell in the background
T-same as smell with a strong roast taste yet the chocolate taste is not there. It has a real smooth aftertaste with light hops and a roast finish
M-creamy highly carbonated and medium body
O-had this on draft at the brew house and had the can. Both had a very smooth feel and came thru in the finish. I enjoyed both and look foward to trying it again when I pass thru Shevport
