16 ounce can poured into a Willi Becher.
Canned 1/11/23
L: Coppery-brown, mostly clear, 2 finger tan head, persistent foam is rocky and leaves a ring of lace.
S: Moderately strong nose, toasted malt, earthy and spicy hop aromas, piney hops taking over later in the glass.
T: Very similar to the nose, toasted malt, assertive hop bitterness, earthy/spicy hops, herbal tea flavor, piney bitter finish.
F: Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth and a little creamy.
O: Fairly well balanced, well done, alcohol is well hidden, easy drinking for 9%.

Can from my brother. Medium, muddy amber, skin of head Heady malty aroma, caramel, brown bread. Taste also favors the Malts, mildly sweet and bitter. ABV not readily apparent, but some warmth creeps in

Look: It pours deep amber with an off white head. Head retention is very good.
Smell: It has some woody qualities with a caramel malt body. There is also a bit of very low spice.
Taste: It has flavors of wood and pine. There are caramel malts that for the backbone with light spice and maybe a bit of floral.
Feel: It has a medium full body with medium bitterness.
Overall, the wood and pine features with the malts coming close as a second.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours deep red with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus and floral hops, very inviting. Tastes of citrus hops and dark roasted grain, a very nice balance and almost perfect. Beer is medium bodied yet very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, a very good beer.

This is a good tasting imperial red with a nice malt kick and nice hop balance. It was a little lacking in depth, dare I say a tad flat in body, but otherwise very enjoyable

Kind of old; canned 10/11/2017 and poured into Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours a hazy, burnt-orange color with a half a finger of fluffy, ecru-colored head and soapy lacing. The nose is subdued with just some roasted malt, caramel, and pine needles. It's much sweeter than the taste indicated. I'm getting caramel and brown bread up front with a nice dose of lemon and grapefruit, along with pine and tobacco notes, and a bitter, hoppy finish. It's fairly viscous and chewy, with mild carbonation, and the 9% ABV is apparent; this is no session ale. Overall, while I was somewhat concerned that it's 2+ months old, it's held up well. The hops may have been more biting when fresh but they nevertheless remain nicely bitter. This red ale has a lot of flavor and I enjoyed it. I'd like to try it fresher and on draught.

On tap.
A - Pours a garnet red color with slight haziness, very thick/sticky lacing.
S - Toasted caramel, malt, and citrus.
T - Some toasted caramel up front immediately followed by some hints of juicy citrus and ends with an aggressive and lingering piney bite. The ABV definitely isn't shy in this beer but not overpowering ... just lets you know this is a big beer.
M - Big medium body, very dry finish.
O - Not a fan of this style but this beer is nicely done. A recommended try.
