Dinkelacker-Schwabenbraeu AG “Sanwald Hefe Weizen”
,5L brown glass bottle coded “Mindestens haltbar bis: 20.01.22 41622”. Sampled on 23.09.21.
€1 @ Fischer’s Brauerei Markt, Mössingen, DE
Look: Typical appearance with a cloudy golden-orange body beneath a massive head of densely creamy white foam that holds remarkably well. Very tiny bubbles can be seen inside racing towards the surface where they add to the head and keep it going. Spots and splashes of lacing ring the glass.
Smell: Limited aroma with some light wheaty malt, a hint of banana, and a suggestion of spiciness.
Taste: Sweetish with wheaty malt, a touch acidic, and fruity with banana and apple. There’s not a lot of phenolic character beyond the banana but there is a light touch of clove - no plastic or added spiciness. No hop flavors are found. A mild bitterness balances it, and along with the acidity, brings it to a dry conclusion with some banana left to linger.
Feel: Medium-light in body and crisp and effervescent with a very fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation.
Overall: A little on the lighter side of the style but very well done and highly refreshing and drinkable.

De color anaranjado, con un dedo de espuma de buena retención. Cuerpo ligero y carbonatación media. Aroma a cereales y banana. En boca destacan la banana, algo de cereales y un poco de levadura.

De Beershooter. En copa hefe de Bavaria. Jugando a Slay the Spire. Hefe bien hecha, con el perfil propio del estilo bien implementado y fresco y sensacion en boca mas sedosa de lo habitual

An okay but drinkable beer. Good body with decent carbonation and lacing. Hints of banana bread, citrus, moderate spice.
A little straw aftertaste which is unpleasant. Not my favorite but could be worse.

Description: Hazy, orange appearance with a fluffy, white head that lingers for a while. The smell is wheat, yeast and a few notes of fruit and pepper, almost like a tripel. There's a slightly bitter finish on the taste (or whatever taste there is; it's pretty bland). The same wheat, yeast and fruit that appear in the smell are also present. Feel is appropriate for the style as it's dry, crisp and thin with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: 3.5 (This beer is average and I would not likely drink it again) For all the history and fanfare that surrounds Germany's beer culture, I find the beers themselves to be 'blah'. Maybe they were comparatively better before craft beer movement began in earnest but they're just not exciting now. So, Germany, really cool that you have some ancient rheinheitsgebot law, but it'd be a lot cooler if your beer was actually appetizing.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy amber with a nice thick, as expected, white head. Lovely. Some banana and malt in the nose. Somewhat bready taste in the mouth. Yum!

Bottle from Ramstein shoppette. This weizen is slightly above average, fairly strong aroma and fruity/bready taste. Nice and hearty. Better weizens to be had from Rhineland breweries however.

I have tasted many a Hefeweizen in Germany and although not to the perfection of Paulaner or Franziskaner the taste is great. I put this above Weihenstephan in the taste category....I know that is uncommon, but this really is a an excellent brew and deserves a proper shout out.
