Ordered at the military club on Kelley Barracks U.S. Army base. Served in a .5 liter glass seidel out of a flip top bottle.

A: Looks gorgeous. A pale gold color with a giant head. If I close my eyes and say the word "beer", this beers image pops into my head.

S: Nothing special in the smell. Slight flower, slight lemon and slight hop smell. Can't really get much from the scent of this one.

T: A nice all-rounder. Hoppy bitterness up front that dissapates into malt-sweet and maybe even a bit of citrus?

M: Decent mouthfeel. Doesn't feel thin and watery, but not an overpowering beer by any means.

D: Very drinkable and in large quantities. This beer is another in Schwaben Brau line that acts as the perfect way to introduce American macro-brew drinkers to what their beers should
"really" taste like. Though many won't be wild about this one, it's not really all that daring, I can't imagine anyone not finishing their glass.

Probably #2 with the military personnel over in Stuttgart, as the Sanwald Weizens (Hefe and Kristall) are the undisputed champs on base.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of July 2014. Purchased a little while back from Aldi as part of their Oktoberfest selection. The chap on the label looks like the guy from the Dos Equis ads - stay thirsty my friends!

Poured into a tankard. A clear golden-amber colour with good carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before dissipating. Aroma of grainy malt, subtle caramel, yeast esters and mild stewed hops. Balanced but insipid.

Tastes of light, malty caramel with a dry finish. Notes of grain, mild caramel, yeast esters and stewed hops. There is a subtle bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body for the style. Aftertaste of light malt, stewed leaves and a hint of cardboard.

A fairly average brew, though better than most industrial lagers. Looks nice, but the aroma and flavour are rather bland. Decent body. Drinkable enough, and would accompany some bratwurst and sauerkraut nicely, however there's no need to hunt it down.

Poured from a .5L swing top to a beer glass the liquid is yellow with an orangish hue and good carbonation. The head is big and white and leaves a bit of lace.

The smell is bready, with salty brine on crust aroma.

The taste follows well, lots of yeasty crusty bread ends. Easy on the hops but nice with a slight sour mild lemon finish.

The mouthfeel is good a nice medium body and good carbonation.

The drinkability is good to ok, so the search continues.

500ml bottle. Lager glass. Golden color, crystal clear appearance. White froth, close but poor crown. Yeasty, slight acidic –banana peel- aromas, herbs & honey on the backside. Malty, grainy flavors & honey hues at first sip. Light body. Moderate to high carbonation. Dense palate & spicy touch. Low bitter, earthy & citric astringent notes as well as herbal hints linger into a sweet/light bitter finish. Herbal infusion memories on the aftertaste.

Got this one straight from the PX/BX.

Pours a light golden color with a sustaining head.

Smells of citrus and perhaps banana, but the predominant smell is the sweet molasses-like malt.

Definitely tastes like a lager with big molasses malt flavor and a good balance of hops. Very nice.

Thicker mouth-feel and decent carbonation.

A very enjoyable and drinkable beer.

This beer was given to me by a frequent flying buddy of mine. Bottle is a cool flip top that will be nice to refill with some homebrew. It pours a gold/yellow color with a full head that lasts with the best of them. Smell is very mild. A little bit of malt and just a touch of grassy hops. Taste is clean and crisp. Very malty flavor up front with just enough hops for balance. Subtle notes of lavender and lemon. Mouthfeel is creamy with a moderate body. Very clean pale lager.

Overall this was a good light bodied beer. When poured it produces a brilliant, bright and white head, which sticks around for a few minutes, eventually dissipating into a fine lacing. One cannon compete much with the presentation of this beer for the style it is in.

The aroma was a bit arid and fresh. Nothing really stuck out other than a hint of lemon and fresh husk.

Tasting this brew was a bit of a chore. There wasn't much to this brew, but there was such a nice mellow smoothness that I can't dog this beer too much. This is a good entry level brew for someone that's hooked on American Macro beer, looking to break on through to the other side.

Pours a clear golden color, carbonation is lively, with a crisp white head that fades slowly leaving a small amount of lacing around the glass.

The smell is quite floral and hoppy, with some malt on the nose as well.

Taste is grassy, a bit earthy and has a leathery bite. Let's see what anther swig reveals. Malt sweetness in the middle and follows to the end. A very nice grainy flavor. Right up front is where you get a brief hit of hops. The finish is a tad dry.

Is it wrong to like a clear beer? Because I have to say I'm really digging this one. Is it an overly complex beer? No. It does however have character and flavor. If your looking for an easy drinking beer with some flavor, this is one.

Pours a dark golden color with a small white head that recede quickly, but leaves good lacing. Smells of floral and citrusy hops. The taste isn't grand, but is well balanced and good. The sip is mildly bitter, and transforms into a sweet aftertaste. The mouthfeel is light bodied, and well carbonated. This beer is very smooth, well-balanced, refreshing, and easy to drink.

A-Darker orange, with two finger foam, lasting about minute. Some bubbles in the glass.

S-Grains,usual for the stile.

T/M-Huge carbonation in it. Personally i don't like when there is so much carbonation in the beer,so it is minus in my opinion. Also nice bitterness, maybe a bit watery. Mostly grains in it.

O-Will pass it next time,i expected much more from this Helles.

500 ml. bottle.Clear golden colour, white thick head that dissipates quiclkly. Smell is grassy hops, fruits and a touch of spices. Medium to light body, taste is dull, I don't know what to say other than maybe some fruit, grassy palate and bitter finish. Anodine.

This beer must be popular with the American military forces, as I got this one from a friend who was stationed over there.
Pours from the flip top bottle a faint gold with minimal head and light lacing.
Smells very sweet- citrus. Maybe a hint of malt.
Tastes- surprisingly good, just barely grazes your tongue with hints of bitterness, but then quickly balanced with a nice sweetness.
The sweetness lingers on the palate and finishes smooth.
A very drinkable beer- and probably will be, since my friend brought a few back.
