Picked up a 0,5L bottle dated best by 11.08.24 at the local Kaufland while buying food. Poured it into a Dinkelacker glass I bought cheap a while ago…does this make it take better when the glass matches the beer? This brewery seems to offer this beer with two labels, one as Schwaben and the other under the Dinkelacker label; this is the latter. A very mediocre brewery but their seasonal offerings are generally better than the regular styles so I figured I’d give it a try. I think Märzen is the appropriate classification for this. Pretty standard, with a solid malt bill bringing some sweet, slightly toasted flavors. A touch of hops in the finish. Definitely brings cool weather seasonal vibes. Overall not bad and worth the €0.95 (what a price!).

Amber colored with little foam. Medium carbonation. Light bodied and well balanced. No skunky smell or taste. A slightly above average marzen style, too bad it's seasonal only. I hope to enjoy more of these throughout this holiday season.

From the bottle, it pours a sparkling clear golden amber color with a modest head. Bready scent in the nose. In the mouth, it is lightly malty with a modest touch of hops. Easy drinking Germany lager.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2017. Purchased a while back from Aldi - this is a seasonal Christmas beer.
A: Poured into a pint mug. A rich golden-amber hue with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a patchy surface layer.
S: Aroma of stewed grain with hints of sweet malt, cooked leaves, husks and subtle yeast. Meh.
T: Tastes of grainy malt with notes of stewed husks, cooked leaves, a touch of overdone veg and faint yeast. Slightly sweet. A restrained bitterness lurks in the background.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with soft carbonation and an unctuous body. Really embraces the palate. Aftertaste of grainy malt and faint stewed leaves.
O: A decent brew that makes up in drinkability what it lacks in character. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are a lacklustre blend of squishy grain and vague stewed hop notes. Nice body; much thicker than you might expect. Very drinkable despite being rather bland - worth trying if you want something easy-going.

Pours clear amber into a glass. Offwhite foamy head is 1-2 fingers high; poor retention. Aroma is citrus, cream and light malts. Not the most 'christmas-y' ale I've come across. Taste is more of the same with light malts, some vegetative bitterness and grassy notes. There's a honey like flavour without the sweetness and a slight buttery flavour. A little too thin and carbonated for my liking but standard. Overall it's nothing special; typical pub swill.

Bottle from Aldi. Golden beer with a thick frothy head. Rising bubbles.
Grain, grass and malt smell. Honey notes,
Taste reflective of the aroma but in a rather harsh way.
Rather unimpressed.

Sweet malts again, little bitterness, buttery. Not particularly good. Nice mouthfeel and carb. Touch drying.

Really? This is your special seasonal? Shame on you! This is almost in pale lager class, it’s so bland and boring....I expected better from a German brewery

Bought in 500 ml bottle in Germany in Dec 2012. This beer is obviously no longer retired and is being brewed this year.
A - Beer is beautifully clear. The color is light gold, just a bit darker than a typical pilsner. The head is white and thin. Some lacing. It looks like a typical European lager, not a Christmas seasonal beer.
S - Aroma is like a generic European lager. Nothing special. Mostly slightly skunked noble hops, some light malt in background. No obvious spicing.
T - Flavors are fairly muted. Hops are in the forefront, but they seem aged and slightly skunked. Malt is in the background only as a vague grainy note. Nothing else of note.
M - Light to medium body. Low hops bitterness. Prickly, slightly harsh carbonation.
O - There is nothing special about this beer. I bought it based on its Christmas-oriented label, but this is not worth your time and is certainly not a special beer to celebrate the season with.

Appearance: A dark brass colored body with a nice cream colored head and lace but there is nothing for retention.
Smell: Mildly corny and pasture like.
Taste: Grassy with a bit of corn and hops like taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and a somewhat slick with just a little bite.
Overall: Not bad, I would get it again for the holidays.

Weihnachts Bier from Schwaben Braeu pours with a dark gold colored body, and promotes a decent light tan and sticky looking head.
Aromas produced are a little herbal and cinnamon like. There seems to be a little bit of a spicy fragrance too.
This brew is crisp and feels clean. It has a light taste of wheat cracker like taste. This is a good session beer.

A kind gift from my German flatmate, who brought this beer all the way from home, Stuttgart. BB 24/04/2007, served chilled in a weizen glass.
A: lovely dark golden hue, the white beer head comes creamy and frothy, with very good retention, on top of moderate and constant streams of tiny fizziness.
S: floral hoppyness buttresses excellent-quality doughy malts and an indispensable lemony and crisp edge of a good lager... The maltiness lingers pretty well, but never to the extent of overwhelming.
T: unexpectedly light-bodied, almost corn-ish, maltiness gradually introduces a soothing and crisp doughy taste, followed by very mild bitterness of noble hops to rub the rear of the tongue, whilst a lingering, dryish-sweet and sour aftertaste of malts stays at back till the end of tasting.
M&D: clean palate and softly fizzy for a good lager, although the body in the end turns slightly thin-ish; overall this is a pretty light, malty lager, potentially a session drink. A light-weight and easy-drinking lager for X'mas!... slightly underperformed, though.
